And it feels amazing! Looks pretty good too

Cannot wait to fit it!

Bloody bargain at £155 on exchange basis for a heated wheel from Jack at Royal Steering Wheels.

That looks great, can he do that to stock wheels??

I suppose the only issue would be having to remove the wheel, work his magic and get it back on... might take a while?

i know he does it to any wheel you just send it to him. no idea on turn around time but he offers exchange which i presume means you pay like £300 out right and he refunds £150 once he receives your old wheels

Where's he based?

I'd rather not man-handle a steering wheel from my car with my chubby fingers

Much rather drive there, pay, get them to swap wheels and do the same once complete!

Royal Steering Wheels
Unit 10b,
Weston Industrial Estate,
Stoke Mandaville,
Aylesbury,
HP22 5GT,

They can prepare a wheel like yours and then just swap them over when you visit.

I'm sure he can do it however you like just email him and ask. Personally I'd want to hold the Alcantarra though as it feels nicer than leather and won't go shiny like leather.

Tempted by this! Teaston, the alcantara on yours looks quite dark black, whereas on others I've seen it always looked a lighter shade, almost a grey. Is that something you asked for?

Just spoke to Jack. I may be getting your old wheel Teaston, he's said he'd have to wait for that one back before he could do a heated one for me. He seemed really coy about putting a band on a heated steering wheel, said he would prefer doing it without a band at the top. Did he mention that to you?

Garage List
I'm very tempted to talk to Jack about just re-leather mine, as I'm getting really fucked off with the leather BMW use as standard just looking and feeling crap after a few thousand miles. I've already had a wheel replaced at 8K miles because the leather coating degraded to a sticky mess, and the replacement now at 14k miles just never seems to clean up properly using Dr Leather or any other decent leather cleaners. Always looks and feels ok for a day, then is back to going shiny and feeling smooth and horrid.

Never had any issues with any other BMW leather steering wheels on anything from e34 to e92!

Pretty sure it's Black Alcantara 9040 which is the same as the OEM M Performance wheel according to Dex78 http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...ight=favourite

No he didn't mention anything about that. I wanted it to look like the oem one (except the M stitching), plus the red matches my seats. If my seats weren't red I may not have had the stripe though.

Don't know when I'll get a chance to fit it, work's crazy and I'm away this weekend.

Every BMW I've had has had the shiny steering wheel problem. Cleaning it with methylated spirits will bring the matte back, but not for long with the mileage I do.

Having looked at the link you just posted to Dex's, I'm now tempted to go for the white stitching

The silver stitching does look nice and understated, but his is stitched in a different pattern to the oem m Performance wheel, but maybe jack could do it like this in the crosses pattern if you ask:

Tim have you seen what happens to Alcantara over time? i wear racing gloves on my rig to try and stop it going shiny and almost like leather.

admittedly i am a sweaty betty which doesnt help. you will want a brush and alcantara cleaner and you will be doing it every 3 months

I asked a lot of people with them and everyone said they still look perfect after years, so hopefully they were right!
