Whats the strangest cause of damage?

To any of your cars. For me its the cat leaving footprints all over my car, admittedly not damage but a pain. My good friend has a brand new black Silverado and he went to the grocery store. When he came out there was a Rooster and two hens walking around on his hood. Clear coat scratched everywhere (yes we have chickens in parking lots in Hawaii).

I worked in the insurance and collision industry for about 15 years. I've seen some tragic and strange sh*t. In that time I've seen a turkey hit a windshield at 65+ mph, a car vandalized with penis's (peni?) spray painted all over it, gun shot riddled exteriors, torched/burnt to the ground, a stop sign come through the floor board after being run over and impaling a rear passenger and the result of a Suzuki SUV going head on with an 18 wheeler.

If I had a dollar for every 911 I've seen swap ends and go off-roading I'd be a rich man.

This was years back on my Mazda from the early 2000s. San Diego was basically burning down because of fire season. We were in the process of evacuating when this ember floated down from the sky and landed in the grill. It melted part of the grill but luckily the entire car didn't go up. I kept it as a badge of honor (read: I was too broke to replace it). Even though it melted part of the car the house didn't burn down, so that was a plus.

My dad had an International Scout on retread tires, decades ago. One of the pieces of retread flung off the tire while on the highway. After changing the tire and continuing on the journey, it became apparent that the piece of loose retread had struck the muffler tip, and the exhaust was now being deflected upwards. The hot exhaust caused the whole back corner of the car to melt and catch on fire a few miles down the road.

Met a guy from Montana at car meet that had his car totaled when he ran over an anvil in the middle of his lane while driving at night on a rural road. Never saw it until it was too late. Gutted his entire drive train and undercarriage.

One day i noticed a milky substance on my window. Upon closer inspection, there were also claw marks all over the top of my my hood. Deduced that A bird landed, walked on my hood and diarrhea'd all over my windshield.

Happened to my E46 ZHP. Parked under a telephone poll. After I parked, I notice a raven with a walnut in its beak seemingly eyeing me from the sidewalk. As I walked away the bird flew to the top of the pole, perched and then dropped the walnut straight onto my trunk lid causing a significant ding. I witnessed the entire event from across the street and it seemed to happen in slow motion. “Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore.” ...

First one, a kid jumped off a stairway landing onto the roof of my classic 1952 Studebaker. I was able to push out most of the large dent with my feet from inside. Second one, a brick flew off the neighbor's chimney and hit my windshield in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.

i ran over a tire iron that was in the middle of the road, blew out a month old mich cup tire.

I was coming home from drag racing at 1am, and hit a parking cone that was randomly in the left lane on nj turnpike at 120mph.

Ran over some seriously large bolts and what looked to be a railroad tie.

had a tree fall onto my e90.

Other than that, street parking in NYC will leave ur bumpers destroyed in a matter of hours.

Same experience driving from Kansas to Florida in my Camaro 1LE.

It's 2AM and extremely foggy in middle of nowhere Missouri, I'm a good 15 hours into my drive by now when a tire tread comes out of the mist. My front splitter and bumper never stood a chance. Plus it managed to tweak my oil pan so that it leaked slightly.

Ha! I can vouch for the fires and all that shit falling from the sky- we were moving on one of those days. I had a couple of buddies helping- while I went and got the truck they were staging furniture in the front yard. By the time I got back it was all covered in ash. Thank goodness no embers landed on anything though!

Driving through Montana last month I see a cop stopped in the left lane as the road curved to the right. I slowed and moved right. Around the bend was a Ford Excursion and one of those truck mounted portable cranes. The guys in the crane truck were trying to figure out how to pick up the last section of the boom which had somehow come loose and fallen from the truck. The Excursion was upright but had four flat tires, four major league bent rims, the passenger side lower front was caved in and all airbags deployed. Must have been a heck of a ride. The boom section was about 12 feet long and a foot square.

Not quite as bad but I was driving my ex's car while he was napping. Drove right over a rock which turned out to be bigger than I'd thought. The car slowed to a stop some hours later just as we exited the Verrazano bridge back into Brooklyn. We had to push the car off the street at rush hour.

The rock had ripped something and fluids drained....

I ran over a very large mangled buck carcass on 29 in Northern Virginia. I had traffic to my left. By the time I saw it pop out from under the pickup in front of me, it was too late. It ripped off the front splitter. I dragged it and deer guts for a mile before finding a suitable place to pull off. Had to cut the splitter offer with a pocket knife and remove the guts, while wearing a suit.
Surprisingly, it spared my front fascia and the Dinan intercooler. Cost me $800 in repairs at the dealer. Not bad, all things considered. It could have been MUCH worse.

According to my mother a shopping cart at Wegmans is indeed capable of flying, denting the precise center of your Volvo's hood and leaving symmetrical 2' wide scratch pattern, then returning to the ground while causing no damage to fenders or front bumper. That's the strangest one I have heard.

I usually don't go to the passenger side but one day noticed all these )))) marks. Finally realized my dad had been swinging his driver's side door ALL the way out. Unnecessarily so.

Nothing against your dad personally, but I fail to understand the dullness in some folks.

I mean, what causes this type behavior? Are they eccentric? Massively preoccupied? Dull? Autistic? Just don't give a shit?

I'm serious. What's wrong with these folks?

Obviously, they have little or no regard for other folks property. That's the bottom line.

My friend Marty had goats. When he pulled in the yard those goats had to get on top of his car, just had to.

Goats + cars = destruction. Just a matter of what kind. they also like to chew off some of the plastic parts, and will occasionally head-butt their reflections of just randomly high-kick into them. Not sure how anybody can put up with them, but they have their fans.
