Help choosing turbos

So I have an 335xi with just shy of 100k on the clock. I bought the car with the original turbos knowing that i was going to have to replace them. My goals are to have a comfortable daily running 450-550 whp. I have been watching MMPs turbos but i think that they may be overkill for my goals and the forums seem to be really down VTT so i figured i would jump on here and see what kind of feedback i could get.

Thanks in advance

hey! i am also thinking in replacing the stock turbos, although my car has a much lower mileage and stock turbos are running well... just wanting more power in the higher revs, have your searched for Pure? i am considering either Pure Stage 2 or VTT GC... by the way, the forums' feedback of VTT is that bad?

If you have all of the supporting mods, including inlets, outlets, stage 2 LPFP, look into Pure Stage 2 DD (daily driving).
I have GC Lites and the low-end spool is amazing.

Tony has a reputation for being, ahem, outspoken. In the past this has caused some contention, and is one of the reasons I got brought on board -different face, different set of people skills. I've been on board for a little over a year and only going stronger.

To answer your question directly, you can reach those power goals with a wide variety of offerings. Depending on fuel used, our soon-to-be re-released stage 2 and 2+ may fit the bill nicely and offer a few advantages over traditional remanufactured turbos that I think you'll find quite compelling. Shoot me a PM or better yet an email and let's talk!

Thanks,
Chris

Hey Chris, are these new stage 2 and 2+ turbos not going to be made from re-manufactured turbos?

That's right. Brand new. Cores will eventually become a thing of the past. Our new castings are a little different than stock anyway... in that they're better.

1: The announcement will be within a month
2: They will be priced aggressively
3: They will out-flow oem castings by a notable margin

Here is a teaser pic of one of the new castings next to an OEM. You can see how the OEM necks down significantly between the manifold and the housing; this is a bottle neck at high power levels that we opened up significantly. Even if you're not pushing to max out the turbos, this will reduce back pressure and allow more power at a given indicated boost level. The engine will breath easier, you'll make more power, and spend less money. They aren't GC's, but they won't cost nearly as much. We will post more info soon.

I emailed Tony and he said, 1-2 weeks, apparently some have been shipped out already and they are waiting to start a group buy with reviews from people that put them on already. That's all the info I got out of him

My suggestion is this.
Find a company close that is a dealer/distributor for snails.
By from someone that is close, have them do the install.
If anything goes wrong, they now own the problem.

For me VTT is down the hill from me.
When mine go, I'll buy from them and have them install.
I don't think I'd have anybody's snails shipped to me to have someone else install. YMMV.

I too have been looking at replacing my turbos. I have 140k on the original turbos. My car is an 07.

If I had to replace mine tomorrow, I'd go with Rob Beck RB ones. I'd also buy his silicone inlets as well.
