340/440 GC -- Which factory build looks the sportiest?
Considering that I am going to keep the next car very close to stock, for once, I would like to try and make it look the best from the factory.
Which color combo/options/inexpensive aftermarket options make for the sportiest look? Example: I saw a 440i in white, M sport goodies, tint, and what looked like an aftermarket spoiler lip. Looked good. Thoughts?

For the OEM look I would go with the 340 and you can add the MPPK and exhaust plus the wheels.

The GC looks more modern than sporty in my opinion. 3 series gets my pick. The downside of getting the 3 is that in LA area, 3 series are EVERYWHERE. I think there are more 3 series than Civics here in LA...

Although I really like the GC as well.

3 looks like a proper sports sedan. 4 looks like a squashed crossover, imho.
Get the 3 with some M performance parts, good rubber, and a piggyback tune or MPPSK.

Yes, "sporty" is certainly subjective! I like the looks of the GC better than the 3 series. It's a tiny bit wider and looks lower...front end is better than the 3 series.
But...I ordered a 340i because of 6MT, and that is mo' sporty to me. |

Thanks, all! Each suggestion I do like, so I appreciate options. I may not find one that's in stock this way, and if I'm too impatient waiting for a custom order, I have a plan B or C.
Quick question... I see a few of you listing things like Mperf CF diffuser, spoiler, etc. I couldn't find these options when building the car. Are these port options? Or, dealer add-ons? Can the cost of these add-ons be baked into the lease/purchase?

The 4 coupe looks more 'sporty' with the same add-ons listed for the 340. The 3 series are everywhere in L.A...(which is where OP resides it appears). The 3 is a nice looking sedan..the 4 coupe (to me) is a pretty car. The GC is a good looking car for sure but isn't the sportiest between the 3.......

I had this same dilemma the other day. The 4 series GC looks so awesome to me, but can't get it with a manual. So it's off the table. Not saying the 3 series looks bad, but I do like the cut outs the 4 series has on the front fenders.

I honestly have no freakin clue how any of you think a 3 series looks sportier than a 4 series, all else being equal. Lower, wider (I think), more aggressive styling. 4 wins in all of these categories, and to me those are the main parameters I judge sportiness by. Not saying anyone is wrong though

Out of those two I think the 340i with the right options would look much sportier. The lines of the GC don't seem as sporty (especially towards the rear/hatch).
And like mentioned no 6MT for the GC makes this much easier. If it were between a 340i or a regular 440i, I think the 440i would look sportier, but I would go with an M240i since it's much lighter and nimbler. |

The M2 kicks sand on the 3/4/5/6/7 series in terms of sporty. Feel free to toss in the M3 too.

Agreed on the 440GC looks much sportier than 340. The 440GC is lower and wider than the 3er.
