Need help e93 roof won't open

Hi, I recently got this vehicle off an insurance auction. It was in a slight right front collision with driver wheel and knee airbags deployed, along with the seatbelt buckle. Both of the rollover bars were popped. I replaced all airbag parts and since then had my mechanic reset the airbag system after which it's fully operational.

I tried pushing back both of the rollover bars, but they would not go easily in. In order to finally get them back down, I had to take apart rear partition and give them a bit of tug & push, after which both locked in.

Now to the roof itself. The car is 9/09 built with 26k miles. I don't see anything disconnected or otherwise looking out of place in the trunk compartment, but when I push the roof button trying to open the roof, the windows go down, the front locking mechanism unlocks and then everything stops. The trunk lid does not start opening and obviously the roof does not start to fold down and retract. I know the roof disconnects from the windshield top because I can push it out from inside and it raises up. This is as far as I can take it. My feeling is that there is something with a sensor or perhaps a plug that is not connected. I was going to take it to a dealership, but figure I'd try the question here in case anybody had something similar or recognizes the symptoms.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

I would suggest trying to get some codes from the car if possible. Car might have gone into emergency mode and locked it. GL!

The sequence lifts the front and rear section first - the rear needs to be out the way before the rear lid opens up.

When it stops does it bong to say there is a problem or do you stil hear the motor pumping the hydralics?

As above I'd see if any codes come up as there a few different microswitches as I under stand it.

Try this link. A lot of good reading and shows the operation and components related to the top. It helped me identify the problem that I was having. It was one of the sensors. I have read about two relays that are often an issue. They are identified in the PDF on page 38 and 39. Sorry can't pictures.

Good luck and please keep us updated.

I'll read up on the document in the link provided. As for the mechanism in the trunk, I don't hear anything going on in there at all when initiating the sequence.
