I always assumed that my rear seats would fold down.

Today I needed to fold them down to make room in the trunk.

Well, I couldn't see any way of releasing them.

I consulted my manual and it says there should be 2 latches in the trunk to release the rear seats.

Well, I looked in the trunk and I did not see them.

I attached photos of the back of my trunk. May be I'm missing something but I doubt it.

I did manage to rip off the child restraint latch cover (photo attached) as I thought it was the seat release latch , lol. And you're not supposed to pull on that, you should only push that one in. If you tug on it, you'll break it as I found out !!

A Coupe should have folding seats. The latches would not be in the pictures you included. They are further left and right, just forward of the upper trunk opening.

actually all coupes will not have split folding rear seats, it's part of a package (can't remember name). my e92 with idrive, heated seats, and premium sound doesn't have it.

i may actually be confusing the split folding rear seats with the ski bag pass through, which is definitely not standard on every car.

you have split folding seats, google 'e92 bmw trunk space' and it's the second pic

If you have split folding rear seats there will be a release lever on each side just inside the top lip of the trunk opening. You really can't miss them. They even have a pic of the rear seat folding down on it.

Oh man. Those are not easy to see !!

You can't see them while standing up unless you're a midget.

they're positioned so that you don't have to crawl into the trunk to get to them. Gonna chastise you: RTFM there is a diagram/pic in there showing you where they are.
