Helmets under $400 - Racequip vs Pyrotect vs ...

I have a track day coming up and purchased a Racequip helmet from amazon and i'm wondering if I should spend another $70 and buy a Pyrotect instead. I was not expecting to go from no track day to track day in 9 days, so i'm kind of scrambling at the last minute to shore up some things.

So, this helmet (that I already have): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017BE3SO2

or

This helmet I can order in the next 2 days and have here in time for the weekend: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/p...4005/overview/

I'm not interested in spending a lot of money atm, as i'm not sure how many track days I can do for the next 24 months. BUT, if the pyrotect is better than the racequip, then I'd rather spend the extra $70 now than wish I had.

Both helmets meet SA2015 requirements so they will both provide the same protection value.

More expensive helmets are made with lighter material (i.e. carbon fiber) to reduce weight. Depending on how often you plan on using it, this maybe of benefit to you as it will be less strain on you neck.

The most important thing between different helmets is the fit. Different helemts fit different head shapes. no matter how much you spend on your helmet you'll have a misserable day if it doesn't fit.

Best thing to do with helmets is to try a bunch on a pick the one within your budget that fits the best.

Just want to chime in and say +1 to what mischiefbenz is putting out there. The fit of the helmet on your head is pretty important for comfort and ultimately the more comfortable you are the more attention you can pay to driving.

I will give a quick update: I received both helmets and tried them on. The RaceQuip helmet fit me best and the Pyrotect was too tight in some areas. I felt they were both comparable as to fit and finish. In the end, the pyrotect was more expensive and fit poorly, so it was returned to summit.

I just purchased this:

https://www.amazon.com/Conquer-SA201...+sa2015+helmet

Seems to be a really good budget option
