M Wheel & Cover Installed!
I installed my M-Sport wheel & cover today, here are some pics...I love this wheel, it's very BEEFY compared to OEM.

Thanks man!
The wheel was $230 shipped and the cover was $110 shipped, so $340 for the setup. I need to get my damn springs installed now...and rims of course :rocks: EDIT: I got the wheel from ebay and I got the cover from Frank(DTMpassion). Danny

The //M steering wheel looks next best to the Hartge Steering wheel, in my opinion.

I just installed my M Sport wheel on Saturday night, too. I still have the stock cover, though. I like the M version, but $110 might be a bit steep for it.
Anyway, I love this steering wheel! It is very comfortable to grip and looks nicer, too. This is one thing that I prefered on my sister's '05 330i ZSP. Now if my exhaust were a few dbs louder she wouldn't have anything on me And contrary to some comments I've read, the M Sport steering wheel is thicker than the post-September sport package wheel. When I compared them after I received my M wheel, they looked exactly like the pictures you posted in your other thread. As far as I know, the only thing that changed in September was the addition of the thumbrests. |

All Right!! Congrats! Please post pics if you can! The install was easy(thanks to bavarian) huh?! How long did it take you? What did you think about the leather texture compared to your ZSP wheel? I think it feels great, like buttah! Is the gap from the stock cover noticable?
As for the exhaust note, how many miles do you have so far? I have 7400 or so and mine is pretty loud if i stomp on it. Danny Quote:

And yes, big props to Bavarian for the DIY. I didn't really time it, but I'd say it took me about 45 minutes. That includes about 10 minutes of digging around for the airbag release clips, which was the most difficult part. Just when I was getting really pissed off that I couldn't find them after trying from just about every angle imaginable, a lightbulb went off (or my stupid-hat fell off) and it occured to me to check the M wheel for indications as to where the clips would be. After that, the airbag popped right out. It was smooth sailing after that. I totally love the feel of this steering wheel. I find my self sort of caressing it as I drive. I dig the feel of the perforated leather, too. I don't think I would have done it if I had to pay the $549 or whatever it is through a dealer, but for $185 plus shipping it's a slam dunk. I have 4300 miles right now and my exhaust does seem to be "opening up." I could be my imagination, but I don't think so. It sounds really nice when I step on it, but I wish it were a little louder at idle. I was considering getting the Eisenmann Sport (I'm worried it'll be too loud with the Race version), but I keep going back and forth on that. It would certainly help to hear it first, but no joy so far. |

Ok, here goes.
The first pic is the M wheel held up to the (post-September) stock ZSP wheel. This is just to put any thickness questions to rest. Then, we have various angles to try and see the gap created by the stock cover on the M steering wheel. The first one where you can see the gap is from outside the car with the steering wheel turned about 235 degrees from center. There are two pictures from the passenger seat. The gap is visible in one of them, but your passenger could only see it if they leaned down to the lower part of the dash and pressed their temple into the trim while looking at the backside of the wheel. That, of course, is the point I'd kick said passenger out of my car for being an idiot. |
