Drive train error..

So I got a drive train error today. You know the one - drive moderately, full performance restricted, see your service centre etc. A BMW Assist chap came out, who was great, and looked over it. The fault message was:

"Maximum acceleration exceeded". First thought, yeh right! Ha. It happened when I was pulling away from traffics lights in the wet, so it wasn't a harsh start by any means. Apparently it happens when the car attempts to accelerate faster than the driver intended...

Any he recommended it go to the dealers. Hire car arranged now. It was an odd situation when it happened... it literally just jolted to an almost stop from about 20mph. And then wouldn't rev past 1,200 RPM without choking... Worried me for a minute but was OK after restart.

The service chap also said he, nor anyone in his local team has came across this error message before! .. we shall see what it is in the coming days...

16' 340i with 16k on the clock.

Happened to me with about 2k on the clock. Switched off and reset and never saw it again until I sold the car at 20k

Yes stock car. I did after the message happened. Rough as hell. Restarted was OK. The guy did say idle seemed every so slightly rough. I was pulling away in wet too, so it could not of been too much for the box etc??

Maximum acceleration exceeded?!?!

Based on my recent acceleration test (http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1384242) I would expect you did a 0-60mph in the 3 second band....that'll annoy the 335d boys!

Joking aside, hope it gets properly resolved by BMW

I had this message on mine once. It happened after I had been driving on extremely wet roads. After a restart the message went never to be seen again. I assumed that water had affected a sensor.

Got a 320 Touring at the moment.

They say this can happen with either Towing or a rear end collision (the act of the car being forced forward without driver intention).

Probably just a sensor.. though service think it may be an EGR valve.

Either way, I dont think I'd complain about too much acceleration !
