noob question - induce oversteer?

so based on my limited knowledge, I am thinking my current setup is inducing oversteer
just wanted to run it by people who may know better

so i have a 2016 328i RWD
i recently got new wheels and tires
i'm running 18x8.5 apex arc-8 ET45 with 245/40/18 MPS4S tires, a square setup
yes, ET45 is not ideal for the F30 ...
it barely clears the front brake calipers but it fits!
rears are fine

i am using 5mm spacers in the front just to give myself a little more breathing room
with the 5mm spacers, the fronts are sitting very flush and look great

i haven't gotten the rear spacers yet
will be installing 12mm spacers soon

so it looks like this
front sits a little wider than the rear

the way it's sitting right now, is my car set up to induce oversteer?
is the difference too small to really make a difference?

Bumping front track width by 5mm per side will alter the feel a bit, but it will not induce overseer. I just popped a pair of 10mm spacers on the front to check clearance for wider wheels I'm planning to run at the track in a couple weeks, and the back end still feels nicely planted.

yes, from everyday driving, i don't feel any noticeable difference in handling just from using the 5mm spacers up front

i'm doing an autocross this weekend
but i have swapped wheels, tires, and installed Dinan shockware since the last time i did an autocross and track event ... so i won't be able to compare directly

yes, square set ups do induce oversteer. My 435i had 275 all around and it oversteered a bit. You might have to change your driving style and get used to it. Square set ups are great for saving money on tires and having great front end grip, just takes some getting used to

Edit: Just realized you are local. If you are interested in coming to the real track, check us out!

if you increase the rear track width with the 12mm spacers, it will head you back towards understeer.

No. Regardless of how wide your square setup may be, the chassis is definitely in understeer territory.

Square setup may reduce understeer - I wouldn't say they "induce" oversteer. Tire width by itself in a square setup is not going to make a car oversteer that was previously understeering.

If you run 245 in the front and 225 in the rear, it'll reduce understeer as well. (sarcasm).
