New tyre?
My left front started to deflate and I got the warning. Went to a petrol station to put some air in but on inspection saw there was a screw or even a bolt lodged in the top of the tyre. Does this mean I need to replace the tyre? ( sorry I can't seem to post pics ) can I go to Halfords to sort this out. Thanks for your help.

Should be repairable if it's in the mid part of the tread.

Then it may depend where you go, some fitters are ott and/or just want to sell you a new tyre and will not repair it, others will happily help you out and repair it. I suggest you find one of the latter type.
