Need advice with headlight LED bulbs

Hello,

I recently replaced my halogen headlight bulbs with LED bulbs. The outcome is totally worth the extra cost, however, the bulbs flicker every 3 to 5 minutes as long as the headlight switch is not on the off position.

I'm not sure why this happens and don't know if it could be of any harm.

Any advice ?

Or code out the warm/cold checks.

Resistor won't help with the flicker, only help with bulb warnings.

You need to code out the warm and cold bulb checks for any aftermarket LED bulbs to prevent flickering.

Thanks for the reply.

What these warm/cold bulb checks are for ? Will coding them out impose any risk ?

That's how the car checks to see if a bulb is bad or not. It sends a quick power signal to the light to measure the current for that circuit. With regular filament bulbs, the quick power signal isn't enough to produce visible light, but LEDs turn on instantly and use much less power, so the quick power burst produces a visible light flicker.

No harm in coding out the checks, other than the car won't be able to tell you if the bulb is bad. You'll have to check the bulbs manually if you want to see if they are burnt out.
