Upgrade Msport brake discs?
50.000 kms and front brake discs are to be replaced in my 335dX. Plenty of material left but most likely overheated, said garage. The front end is shaking when braking, at any speed.
Cost of new discs is high, so I took a look at other alternatives. Cheapest decent that I found was TarOx "floating" for 1200€ (pair of front discs). In US they seem to have more options but shipping and customs is too expensive. I track the car couple of times/year and drive autobahn sometimes, otherwise quite peaceful driving... Are there any other options than Tarox? |

I've done quite a few track days and the brakes always recovered reasonably well and no issues like you describe. The standard discs are pretty good really.
I changed to the M Performance discs which are grooved and dimpled. Not sure how much they help braking performance but they look much better. Eventually I changed to a BBK up front as in track the standard brakes don't hold up.

I have a Boxster S as well and it's got far more effort put into channeling cool air to the brakes I noticed.

Surely a change of pad will be more cost effective and better than a disc? You can get pads that don't suffer brake fade severely?
Not heard of many over heating oem discs with plenty of material... would depend on variables such as driving style etc. |
