Steer clear of the expensive BMW bolt on. In my old E92, I used the Garmin HUD hooked up to Garmins mapping software on my phone. Worked really well and can be had for less than £90 (+however much the full mapping app is now).

Ignore the fuzzy HUD display, was actually taking a photo of the traffic jam outside my house!

I wouldn't lose too much sleep over not having it. I still use the dashboard - the image is projected too low down on the window for my height.

I get that people like it, but it's just a bit wasted on me and seems a bit of a gimmick.

You realise that you can adjust the HUD height in the iDrive? Perhaps you mean that even on the highest setting it's too low.

All retrofits are possible, whether even vaguely economically viable is another thing.

While the list of parts to do a retrofit doesn't seem to be too great, the amount of work is considerable and even if cutting the dash might well involve the complete removal of the dash for access and ease of work.

The one I'd like to see s retrofitting a pano roof to a GC or Saloon - now that would be good!

Personally it's one of my favourite options. So Much safer, especially when you are tired.

Absolutely, when I drive a car without it now, it seems crazy how much time you have to take your eyes off the road to see what speed you're doing! Especially with such strict speed restrictions these days!

For safety reasons, if nothing else, these should be standard on all cars....especially with the amount of 'interactive marketing crap' manufacturers are stuffing in cars.
