Has anybody gone from F80/F82 to G30?
Planning on making the change. Not sure if I"ll feel at home in a non-M car after driving a E92 M3 and a F82 M4 for the last 6 yrs.
Has anybody made the change? And what do you think? |

It is different animal. 2/3/4 series are designed and made to be nimble while mean.
The 5/7 series is more toward comfort/sport, lastly the 6 series is toward sport/comfort.

I just traded my M4 F82 for a 530e today. Night and day in terms of power, handling and comfort. But, I already have an X6M so having the M4 was kinda redundant. I wanted something that was more relaxing as a daily driver.

So obvious question, but are you not considering the new M5 ? A fully loaded M550i will be very close to the F90 price point. Like you I have my concerns about driving a Non M car so I'm also looking at other performance models in case my budget can not be stretched to the F90. So outside the 550i/d which are realy like I'm also considering the RS4 Avant (sep launch) or the GLC 63s AMG ... Gota say that I'm very impressed with the latest which tick a lot of boxes for me ... keep us posted and good luck with your decision |

I had two f80 M3's and am now driving an 2018 m550xi. Previous posts are correct it's a different apple. I needed a car I could drive all year around through the Canadian winters and with more room for road trips with the family. I hoping the new m550xi will do all of that and still be fun, fast, loud and more luxurious. I love all the new technology, the digital dash, the extra room and the seats in the m550. The m550 is crazy quick off the line and in a straight line. While the m3 was brutal to get off the line without wheel spin.
I really miss the handling, brakes and the steering of the M3 especially when the car is being pushed hard. The m550xi is a big car and it feels that way when compared to an M3. Yes, it is probably the best handling big car I have ever driven other the m5/m6. In my mind the suspension could be a little stiffer in full sport plus settings and steering feel could be better. Remember it's not a TRUE M car even though all the badges say otherwise. I modified my exhaust on my M550 and I actually prefer the sound of it over my M3 with the BMW Performance exhaust. You just can't beat the sound of an eight cylinder engine. Hopefully either Dinan or burger tuning will come out for a tune for this new beast to make it even faster!!! I will always miss the M3, but saying that I still love my new M550xi. |

Ya I have option 2VW Adaptive M suspension with active roll stabilization and rear steering. I also have the 20 inch style 668M wheel with the new Michelin pilot sport ps4, which I really like.
