Calipers too close to inside of the wheel?

Hi Everyone,

I just upgarded my 17" wheels/tires on the 06 330i and went with 18" rims and Goodyear F1 tires. Even with the 18" rims, the calipers are just so close to the inside of the wheel, maybe about 0.5mm clearance. Do you think this will pose any problem or safety issues?

It does not appear to rub when cold - I need to double check when both rotors/calipers and wheels are hot.

thx.

You could install 5mm wheel spacers if you're uncomfortable with it

Don't worry. They won't rub. It's all good. May look close bout you won't have any problems. I own my own aftermarket parts maufacturing company, have owned a shop and am now working at 702 Motoring in Las Vegas and do sales and custom install and fabrication. Nice job on the wheel upgrade!

Thank you both Getagrip and IDENTITY MOTORSPORTS.

Getagrip, I've thought about the spacers, and I might go that route if I feel a rub. Thanks again.

IDENTITY MOTORSPORTS, I talked to the manufacturer of the wheels and they say they spec their wheels to have at a minimum 0.5mm clearance and above. 0.5mm? That's it? That's about what I have, about 0.75mm to 1mm clearance. It just feels too close, but I just wanted to get your opinion about what is the acceptable and exercised minimum clearance in the industry.

regards,

Mine are just a hair clearance, but they're still okay.
