MPPK - How to know if its been installed?

Morning All,

So I picked up my F30 340i yesterday and proceeded with the very long journey home. Great drive and it just ate up the miles.

Wondering though, what are the signs that the MPPK has been installed. On some threads I looked over, it said the "Performance Meters" are increased from 350 to 400. (That was within the N55 engine threads though. Cant find anything specific on the 340 and B58.)

There are no stickers on my engine cover, just the "M Performance" sticker on the back of the side skirts.

Also when foot to the floor the "Power" gauge goes up to around 350Hp and Torque seemed to touch 340ft lb. Think the car was still in comfort mode when this was done if that makes any difference. Will do some more digging.

Thanks

I do not have MPPK. My gauge ranges go up to 400. However, they never read close to 350 when it was stock. I think that should solidify things for you.

EDIT: I was totally wrong in this...

Look up your vin number and if you have it installed, there should be a "M" after the engine name.

Example of how it should look like

If you have the MPPSK
1. The exhaust itself will say M Performance -- take a look under the car. The TIPs are much larger than stock.. they go past the bumper and are larger in diameter. They can be all chrome/stainless OR carbon fibor/stainless
2. You may or may not have a sticker on the side skirts (if they put them on)
3. When you put in sport or sport + you will clearly hear a difference when the car is warmed up. All down shifts will come with pops and burbles... At higway speed there will be a slight drone compared to comfort. In other words.. there is a pretty big difference.
5. My max HP and TQ I hit about 380 to 400 - If you dont have MPPSK you will hit about 340 to 360.

There is no changes in gauge max .. No change in the engine compartment..

PS - here is where you check your vin: https://www.bmwvin.com/
Mine also is listed as B58M

M means medium performance. I.e. BMW could produce different levels of the same engines with different performance levels.

Thanks, doubt it has it then. Not really audible burbles, looks like standard 340i exhaust and gauges maxed out at around 340hp and 350ft lb.
VIN checker shows B58M

Might need to look into what good aftermarket exhausts are available.

If your engine cover has m performace, the air box would have been changed with the mppk and a flash tune and Your guages would read 400 hp/tq than you have the mppk. The guages are the best test.

the exhaust is stock unless you physically check.. the 335 has some nice burbles even stock (though low volume...). Mppsk is for the b58 motor (340 440)... that has a new full exhaust ..... it sounds like a beast compared (I just came from a 335 m sport to a 440 mppsk)

Pretty sure mine is non MPPSK as exhaust looks standard (No M Performance engraving on the tips). Also no additional sticker on engine cover.
Gauges max at 400, but with car in sport, max hp achieved is 340ish.
Also, dont think its that loud, but then my weekend toy is LOUD!

If you have a 335 and your guages max at 400 then you have the mppk. Hitting 340 with the mppk sound about right ...my stock 335 hit 320..my 340 with mppsk hits 380hp / 400 tq

The only way to get the guages to 400 hp tq on a 335 is with the mppk. Sounds like mppk. And yes the mppk change the exhaust some .... added pops and burbles due to the tune ....just nothing like the mppsk (see below)

The mppk never came with new exhaust...it has stock exhaust. They added ho via a new air box and the tune.. your confusing it with the mppsk (s for sound) which is only for the 340 or 440 cars which added power via new exhaust and a tune (air box remains stock).

Change the resonator and exhaust and essentially your mppsk (without the power of a b58 motor)

Mine is a 340i (B58M), not the 335. So guess the 340 gauges are 400 stock. And yes, I know previous versions had MPPK, and now its MPPSK with exhaust change.

LOL... You sig has 335 in it..

Sorry you dont have - 400 is stock now for B58 motors..

Thats why I asked earlier what HP / TQ numbers you have.. MPPSK hits about 370 / 390 for HP/TQ... Stock is lower...

Dont fret.. Simple fix, just plop down the 3k...

Mppsk 440i 2018

Picked up car 3 days ago, had sigficant vibration and rattling sound passenger side. Returned to service, port installed sound kit pipe mounted too close to heat sheild. Repair took 45 minutes, vibration gone. Had 435 I with mppk, this car much quicker throttle response .

Same here. Had MPPSK installed on Friday and had my engine listed as B58M after checking bmwvin.com. I checked a saved PDF from the same site from when I first got my car over a year ago and the engine also had it listed as B58M to begin with.

Doesn't look like this is the way to check.

I certainly "hear" the burbles from the exhaust but I honestly can't say I definitely "feel" the MPPSK....

Having had the car for around 2 months now and had the MPPSK installed last week.
Sound is amazing and can definitely feel the extra power.
Such an amazing piece of kit!

M performance badge is wedged on the exhaust silencer. Check from underneath the rear bumper you can see it.

USe the sport gauges... if you hit 375tq and 370ish HP you have it... If its 350 or less you dont have it.

I'm going to have to video the sport gauges then. To me, it looks like it's hitting ~350hp and ~350tq but I'm not staring at it either, more like a glance since I'm on windy roads and not straightaways.

You have the manual - thus you will make less TQ and not sure if less HP will be recorded...

Best to see what someone has without MPPSK

My 440 MPPSK hit 370HP 375TQ (when I dont have JB4 enabled)
