I wonder if the 3 series will also get the mentioned suspension and steering changes.
This is clearly an article on the LCI 4 series, but BMW often secretly fit the same updates across the board. I recall when the 3 series got the 5 point suspension strut change, I'm sure the 4 series got this too. One things for sure, the F3x sure has had some changes since its launch way back in 2012.

Slightly different suspension refresh to the coupe though as I am sure they don't run the same suspension.

Admittedly mine's a pre-LCI but I'm seriously considering getting rid even though I'm less than 3 years into a 4-year PCP; could probably get out of it now with a small amount of equity and perhaps a 440i might be the answer. However, would most likely need a hatchback so anyone know if the GC has received the same revisions as the coupe? |

Yer right I just meant they stiffened up the suspension a bit may or may not be in the same way.. and the B58 is a gem dont ya think? Its as if it came tuned abit with stock boost over 10psi, bigger turbo, air to water IC over the N55

Yeah the B58 is epic, clearly going to be the base for new M3 engine and should be 500bhp corker!

Every review is saying the lci tweeks really make a difference and the 440 is "proper" bmw again. A large chunk of which is associated to the b58 lump. Ahmen to that!

I have to say all the positive comments being made about the 440i are making the wait even harder! Still at least I get Digital Cockpit and HUD

The nose and turn-in is much better, both cars were/are running Adaptive a Dampers, factory fit Bridgrstone summers and the same Pirelli winter tyres. Maybe there is something about the 40i lump that best complements the stock suspension setup and balance of the cars?

http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-rev...i-2015-review/ What about those suspension changes? They’ve not spoiled the handling, have they? The geometry hasn’t changed, but the top mounts now shake hands more firmly with the bodyshell for improved torsional rigidity, the ride height’s 10mm lower (but not on 4wd xDrive versions) and the damper units are new – both the standard shocks and the optional adaptive dampers feature new valves and pistons (based on lessons learned in the M235i, we’re told). The upshots, says BMW, are reduced body roll, improved directional stability and quicker, more precise steering response. The latter’s also down to a retune for the electric power steering system. With the stiffer front suspension assembly taking all of the slack out of the steering’s response, there’s perhaps a little more tendency for the front wheels to follow the road’s cambers more eagerly but it’s no deal-breaker. Muddying the waters slightly was the brand-new optional ‘Variable Sport’ adaptive steering system fitted to all cars at the launch. It’s an extra-cost option which alters the steering’s rate of response according to speed and not all who tried it were enamoured with it, but I never found its responses anything other than consistent and accurate. It’s hardly the abomination of Audi’s Dynamic Steering system, at any rate. Still, try before you buy.
