Advice sought on moving a car on.....
Can any one offer some advice on this one?
I have a Mercedes C43 AMG Estate which is brilliant but I need to move it on for a variety of reasons. The car is only 7 months old and on a PCP agreement, I have gone back to the original dealer to see if they will take it back but they have a ban on buying at the present time. Is there anyway to put a car out to all the UK Mercedes dealers to see if someone will take it off me? I am then guessing the best alternative would be Auto Trader? I am only nervous as I need to clear the outstanding finance when the car is sold so would much rather sell back to a main dealer. Plus the value of the car is circa £40k! Any thoughts comments or advice more than welcome... Thank you |

It's perfectly normal to settle a finance agreement on a private sale. The main thing is to make sure that the buyer is aware of that beforehand.
Selling to a main dealer is never going to net you as much as trade in (due to the loss of forward business) which in turn is unlikely to get you as much as a private sale. A quick look at the Mercedes website suggests that C43s with delivery miles only are typically only a few grand more than 40k and those with reasonable miles for the age are up for less than 40k. I'd be surprised if a main dealer offered much more than 35k in order to protect their margins. To put things into context you can order a brand new C43 for only 42k through a broker - it might not have any options but it gives you an idea of what they're worth. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. |

If it's on a PCP, then get in touch with the finance company and ask for a settlement figure.
Oh, and whatever you may THINK your car is worth, it's worth considerably less. Be a bit real, and it's called the Endowment Effect - look it up |

I already have the settlement figure, it is a case of minimising the loss in the most effective way! Looks like a private sale will be the best route forwards.....

And new reg's for march were the best ever. So I'd imagine some dealers have plenty of used stock.

Try Sytner - http://www.sytner.co.uk/mercedes-benz/sell-your-car/
They offered me a very good price for my low mileage, 30 month old SEAT Leon, which I duly accepted. Maybe also try Tootle - www.tootle.co.uk

Try dealerbid.co.uk to get a feel for trade buyers but they will always hit low.
Best bet is a prestige used car dealer and if they will sell your car on a commission that should return the most to you. |
