Why go for a powered one ? I use an Igloo Maxcold and put several 2L bottles of frozen drinking water in it along with food & beers : it's done five days at LeMans with temperatures to 30C, kept everything cold and you get ice cold drinking water as it melts

The Halfords ones are good and you can get the mains adapter to run a 12v appliance from Go Outdoors cheap. We've used ours for everything from camping to touring Europe.

We have the 24ltr one as it's big enough for needs and if we're doing a lot of mileage it ends up in the middle of the rear seat so we can just reach in for a cold drink.

I went for the 50L version. Really is very well insulated, you can get a lot in it, and not having to have a power source for camping etc is a plus.

I have a WAECO one and they seem to be one of the most comprehensive ranges of cool boxes on offer. I had no idea quite how many there were to choose from when you move beyond what's in your nearest Halfords!
There's a few different cooling methods, some of which can keep things really cold even in hot summer temps, or simpler and cheaper ones that are more chilled relative to ambient temps. Then you've got size and portability to consider. I went for one that sits on the back seat and strapped in by the seat belts, and keeps a couple of large bottles of water and full family picnic nice and cold for an entire euro road trip. It's nice a quiet too, which is not always the case with the cheaper ones.
