Dinan VS MPPK VS JB4 for a 340i
I apologize if this has been discussed on several occasions but i'm torn.
I have a 340i x drive with 8k on it. I have the maintenance package on it and obviously warranty upto 50k. Everyone I talk to has JB4 but my main concern is the warranty. I know dollar for dollar the jb4 is the best deal. Would love to know what the general consensus is? Thanks |

Everyone is going to tell you something different. In the end I think it comes down to your budget and how you feel about risking your warranty (although most will agree once you take off a tune you should be safe). I personally have mppsk and think it was more then worth it, I know power wise it's below a jb4 but I added jb+ so now I should either be on par or have slightly more power. If you want to save the money and get the most bang for your buck though jb4 is the way to go.

This seems to be about the average as far as I can tell.

Just to give my opinion, I have driven non mppsk cars and felt it was definitely slower. I noticed a decent improvement on power with my car after driving a non mppsk car. My last car was. 435 with stage 1 tune and an intake and it is night and day faster too me. With that being said the power increase is awesome but I think the sound of the exhaust is worth it alone I get many compliments on it.

It's a noticeable bump in power, the exhaust sounds great, no emission's issues and factory warranty remains intact. It is absolutely worth it to me. I have yet to see a complaint from anyone who has it.

The difference is noticeable, the car was fast stock but now if feels like it just pulls and pulls without letting up. You can do stage one Dinan but part of the MPPSK experience is the exhaust. I wasn't sure about the burbles and pops but now I have come to love them. When you shift at 4-5K you get a distinct "burp" from the exhaust.

Polished tips, was not interested in the CF versions. I generally drive sleeper street cars.
On output dynos are showing high 360 low 370 wheel horsepower. Add 10% for frictional/rotational loses & you are around 400 at the crank. With the first dragstrip numbers showing up this spring in the high 12's & triple digit terminal speeds the numbers look good. Put on some drag radials like NITTO 555R & is a 12.5 car. One of the guys submitted this dyno a before & after MPPK install. Will run mine on a DynoJet when it comes in. If you are a weekend racer the JB4 system is a best bet. If you want a quick street car with no fuss & a warranty being subsidized by a lease payment get the MPPK & port install it. at no cost.

No you can not but you can buy the MPE and delete the resonator or get one of the aftermarket mid-pipes and you pretty much have the same thing.

You can buy the MPPSK from getbmwparts on sale for ~$2500 plus tips ($200 for stainless). And your local BMW dealer can install it for 1-3 hours in labor. I think mine was around $3050 with tax, labor etc. Dealer matched the getbmwparts price (thankfully) and charged a reasonable 2.5 hours of labor to install and program the car.
And yeah, the butt dyno (and also my dyno above) says the MPPSK is worth it. Not as much power as a JB4 and more expensive, BUT warranty, warranty, warranty!

I found a couple of dealers that do it for 2280 plus tips. 205 each. I'm going to run it past them as se if they will install it for me. I know dinan does a tune for MPPK as well so can always go that route after
