Brake squeek sometimes when reversing

Anyone notice their brakes squeak when car goes in reverse?

The manual shows this and now I'm thinking I should be fine.

Nope never, only squeaks with aftermarket track pads. Stock has never made a peep.

So it turns out every BMW does that especially the M cars. My CA and service department staff mentioned it's normal. They even handed me a brochure about the brake system.

Never had this happen with stock brakes on any M car I've owned but ok. Includes E46, M3, E9x M3, F80 M3, F87 M2, E39 M5.

Mine started to squeak after my first track day... Only when I reverse and I have more than enough brake pad left.

My MY17 6MT has a slight squeal wheel I'm on a hill and my car rolls back then engaging the brake. It's just biting the brake rotors under weight IMO.

Yea I usually notice it when I'm on some incline going reverse and is also a slight squeak sometimes.

I only get a slight squeak after I have washed the car, once the rust is knocked off the rotor it is fine.

Speaking of washing the car the manual and brake brochure recommends dry-braking after a car wash to avoid increased corrosion.

Yes - I heard this for the first time last night when reversing. I have a 17' M2 with 1200 miles.

Timely post. I just noticed this for the first time just minutes ago as I was backing into a spot.
Thought it was odd but I guess not.
Just under 4000km on the Odo btw.

When I was reversing the first time I heard it, I thought I pressed the HORN......so I didnt think aything of it.

When I drove it again the next day and reversing out of gagage, I heard it again then realized I was stepping on brakes and put two an two together!!!!

So it must've been sorta loud for me to hear it clearly like a horn with windows an radio on!!

I heard if you pressure wash the brake dust off it can reduce the noise.

The test cars had track pads.

My car started squealing in reverse after 10k km. I'm at 15k km and the squeal is gone...

No rhyme or reason.
