Idrive new version

Hi guys,
i saw that on the m240i they get the updated version of the idrive?
do we have info on when we are gonna get an update us people with the M235i ??

Not that this answers your question, but I think iDrive 5 only comes in 240's with the nav package. I don't have nav and I have iDrive 4

(Forgive me it I have the incorrect version numbers. My car has the same version as 235 I test drove and it looks nothing like the new version I've seen in cars with nav.)

Based on what I've red, you ain't gettin it! There was a hardware change when they went from iDrive 4 to iDrive 5.

I've seen some posts where people got iDrive 5 to work on the older hardware, but I think it wasn't fully functional. As in some feature they had with iDrive 4 stopped working.

I picked up my m240 two days ago (traded in my '14 f30). The updated idrive is very pleasant compared to the version in my old car.

Honestly I didn't like the new version of iDrive. It's prettier, but not as intuitive and user friendly as the previous version imo.

There's no option to retrofit 5.0 on a car with 4.3 without running into issues since the hardware is slightly different. The new voice commands are pretty sweet in the 5.0 though.

Agreed. Drove an X5 with the new iDrive for a couple days. Definitely looks nicer and more modern but didn't like the way it flows at all. Added button clicks and scrolling to do the same thing

Ya my only complaint with the new idrive system is that when I am searching for music by artist, I can't play their full library. I can only select individual tracks and that defeats the whole purpose.
