Go into iDrive and see if any of the maintenance items are checked off 'red'.
Things like wipers are probably changed along with being up on a lift for ball-joint and general stuff like fluid top off.

Why would you not do service when it's free? If something were to blow up later down the road, they can void your warranty.

You need to read your manual. They absolutely can void your warranty for that.

All maintenance services must be performed to
keep your warranty coverage valid. It is the
owner’s responsibility to maintain the vehicle as
indicated by the vehicle’s Condition Based
Service (CBS) display and/or as outlined in the
Maintenance Service Summary section of this
booklet. Prior to performing service or repair
work under warranty, when necessary, the owner
must present to the authorized BMW center
proof that the periodic maintenance services
were performed at the required intervals. The
repair invoices/receipts for the completion of
required maintenances services should be
retained for this purpose.

At this point, I'm convinced that you're a troll. Remember this?

Dude, learn about your damn car. In fact, learn about cars in general, because this crap is Car Ownership 101 --

-- I take that back. It's freaking remedial. Repeat after me:
"If you don't maintain your car according to the manufacturer's maintenance schedule, your warranty can be voided."

This applies to any car with a warranty, whether new or used.

You're welcome,
- Your favorite ass

Beyond that - just FYI for anyone and everyone who doesn't know if you don't maintain your car properly and cause an accident injuring someone you're on the hook. Not your insurance company. Don't believe it's the case here but just a general PSA. So you slam into someone injure them and your brakes aren't good due to excessive wear and you haven't replaced them, hello massive financial disaster.

What's considered an "approved facility" for maintenance?

Or is it just any established repair facility that can provide an invoice?

That would be more in the gray area, where a SA/dealer can decide if it's sufficient. Like a "euro specialist" shop doing the walnut blasting with a invoice is fine compared to a backyard mechanic media blasting everything in sight and the only records you have of the transaction are dubious text messages.

If you bought it in October and stored it for winter, you drove it for what, 2 months at most? How many miles did you put on it that it was due for maintenance in that period? You'd have to be on pace for 60,000 miles/year to put 10k miles on it in 2 months!

While I agree with your diagnosis, worst case scenario would be an actual owner who would probably throw the credit card onto the kitchen counter and leave a post it note with,

"Sorry Mom..
Last one blew up..
Went and got a new red one. lol..
It's fuckin woke... "

Either way.. I just laugh...

Yea for sure, makes sense. Basically need substantiation/documentation to back up what was done, sans chicken scratch
