Cant connect to car.

I have purchase a package from a well known ebay seller which came with disk with all software and cable

I had to install bigger ram cards as my ram was only 2gb and E-sys premium launcher required more then 2048gb to operate

So now i installed everything. I plug cable into the obd (which feels very loose until i force it in) the amber light shows on laptop and when i go to connect the e-sys to the car "connection via vin" is greyed out?

Can anyone help? Seller has sent me a replacement cable too and dont work
Should the light stay amber or green?

I'm sure that means 2048MB, which is 2GB. So you're fine.

As for connecting, is your car on?
  • Turn Car on
  • Plug in OBD cable to computer and car
  • Try to connect via E-sys

I just fired up my E-Sys, the Task Manager shows it running at 99MB.

Check log (c:\data\logs).
In text editor, search "javamem." You should get something like:
PHP Code:
# Java (used/javamem): 447,188,680 # Java (full): 473,956,352 # Java (max): 4,294,967,296 # Process (full/procmem): 971,022,336 # Process (virtual): 604,930,048 # Process (virtual max): 4,294,967,295 [ParallelTask-6]
Each computer is different. Mine stays ethernet has two lights, one solid amber and a blinking yellow.

Engine should be running. Third party firewalls should be disabled.
Makes mure IPV4 TCP/IP settings are set to automatic.

Check the fuse for the OBD port. It's located on your FEM. I had mine blow and I was freaking out that I might have bricked my car.

Did you change any settings in the network interface? You should be getting a 169.x.x.x address (169 address usually means no dhcp obtained address and this is normal.).

Technically with latest launcher, you can run on XP. But, it is better off with .NET framework (requires Windows 7-10).

ahh ok ill do that.

I bought the laptop from the same company some years ago which was refurbished...it had the INPA / DIS / NCS Expert all for E9X already on the laptop so if I upgrade to WIN 7-10 will I lose my programs?

An OS upgrade done correctly won't lose anything. However, I had a laptop that was originally loaded with XP, later upgraded to W7, which could not be upgraded to W10 because there were no video drivers available for it that were W10 compatible. It didn't matter, within a few months the battery would no longer take a charge, and it wasn't logical to spend money on a new battery for a computer with an obsolete OS. In any event, a computer old enough that it came with XP should be considered expendable.

If you do, you can always re-install them. INPA & NCS Expert should just be installed and run in Win XP compatibility mode.
