yeah, another new owner; '13 335i Convertible, M Sport. Got a good deal I think after have looked pretty agressively for a couple weeks. 28k miles, one owner (lease return) black exterior, saddle interior with sport seats. $27k and it included a lifetime warranty on powertrain and 125k warranty bumper to bumper on other stuff. Only option I wish it had is the CA.

It replaced my 2008 Lexus GS350 (amazing car - 105k miles and never been in the shop except for tires and brake pads) and also 1994 Lotus Esprit S4. Yeah, it was a sad day watching that drive off... :P

Arriving Tuesday is cable for Carly, CAI and JB4, so stoked about that.

Anyone here have thoughts on the NCS Expert software? Good / Bad?

Did compound, polish, wax, etc. on hood, top and trunk. Went to do sides and wow BMW paint has a lot of orange peel to it. Much more so on the sides than on the top, hood and top of trunk. May take to a friend of mine who is a Pro detailer to take a look.

Open to suggestions!

NCS Expert is solid software, would recommend. Some mods to start you off since you mentioned you were getting a JB4:

if its a 6AT, look into either the alpina flash, which you can code yourself, or the XHP stage 3 flash, also for the TCU, both of there will increase the useability of both the Drive and DriveSport modes, also the shifts in Manual mode will be MUCH quicker and more responsive, XHP costs 200$ and Alpina flash is free,

Also check out Coding, you can customize features and lighting stuff to your tastes, plenty of people offer remote coding services to enable things like unlock door on key removal, or roll windows up with keyfob, starting at 35$ up to 150$ for these services, you can also check out the coding section and DIY it pretty easily if your handy with a computer.

If you plan on going for a tune, like JB4, get the chargepipe upgrade, these are known to brake when you start turning up the boost.

Also with all warrenties, they wouldnt be happy if they knew you had an intake on the car, and god forbid they ever find out your running a JB4.

For tires, ditch the runflats, and run Michelin Pilot Sport 4s or better.

Happy modding, and hopefully many good miles to come!!!

Yes, it is the 6AT. To clarify, are you saying the Alpina flash for JB4? I already bought, should be here tomorrow the JB4.

Have a link to "Coding"? Are are you referring to NCS Expert?

Chargepipe, will do, thanks for the suggestion!

It only has two of the run flats, rears are not and not much tread left so was already researching tires. Does everyone suggest using OEM tire sizes? Could not find much one way or the ohter on this in the forum. And could not find any Michelin Pilot Sport 4S on tirerack.com or discount tire either.. :P

Alpina flash is for the EGS / TCU, the transmission controller, it SIGNIFICANTLY increases shift speed, Here is a video of my car with the alpina flash in manual mode, ( Paddle shifters )

XHP stage 3 Flash is very much like the alpina flash, it increases shift speed, its marginally faster then alpina, but not necessarily noticeable. It also costs 200$ but has features alpina does not, like Kickdown mode delete, and removing the auto upshifts, (stock or with alpina flash if you hit redline, it will automatically shift into the next gear) and XHP increases transmission line pressure, allowing stock transmissions to hold more LB Feet for Heavily modified cars vs 550~ that the alpina flash can hold without slipping.

Here is a link to one of the vendors on the forums who offers remote coding services, and there are Multiple DIYs in the coding subforums on what you need/what you can do: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=561210

On the stock rims assuming you have 225 up front and 255 in the rear, you can safely run 235 wide in front and 265 wide on the rear without fender modifications, if you get them rolled, you can run 245 wide in the front and 275 wide in the rear.

Here is a link to the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S on Tirerack: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...Pilot+Sport+4S

And a link to the pilot sport 4s on michelins website, http://www.michelinman.com/US/en/tir...-sport-4s.html

sounds like you are a happy camper! I notice the turbo kicking in around 3000 to 3500? Btw, i know some software tunes does not always recommend the redline as shift points. My dinan tune indicates the best shift point is around 6100 RPM .. Just food for thought! Good luck with the ride and happy modding!

OK, looks like I also need to get NCS Expert to do the "XHP Stage 3 TCU Tune", of course this means buying the cable to which there seem to be opinions all over the place as to which to get, etc.

Which do you suggest for a 2013 335i, M Sport?

Pretty familiar with coding and such so that should do for now..

I believe we cannot flash any custom tunes from any company or tuner because of our DME. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

They can unlock it and install MHD on it, Wedge is the creator of MHD, but yes, if ANYONE unlocks your DME, you can flash directly to it, MHD included.

Got the CAI and JB4 today
Took around 3 hours puddling at it
Had one issue due to the install instructions they have are out of date and show four connectors but says only three used. Seemed odd so pinge support.
Ends up the fourth us supposed to be connected to fuel rail way back up. Guy from Burger called and said if not using meth or E85 should be ok leaving unplugged. Reason being didn't connect is he initially said it is not needed so I buttoned everything up and had even started it; no issues and no CEL
Going for a drive shortly
Fingers crossed

They REALLY need to update their instructions and overall improve them IMHO

Yeah the instructions are outdated and mix and match to get it done but once you do it once or twice your good to go from memory.

Order the e socket kit off Amazon and pull the bar and covers and plug in that sensor. Don't risk it being lazy IMHO.

I've got those sockets

Will hook up Sunday

Makes me wish E85 was available here

It's definitely faster though hard to tell as the car is so new to me to begin with

I'm not the creator of MHD, I only provided assistance while it was being developed. I also create the shelf maps for the N54 version of MHD and do custom tuning for both N54/N55 using MHD.
