F31 Towbar and Bike Rack

I'm considering a tower and bike rack for my F31. Searching the forum, Westfalia seems to be the 'bar of choice, however, most of the 'bar-mounted bike racks appear to clamp to the towball whereas I'd like to leave it free for towing at the same time as we may get a trailer for all our camping gear.

Are any of the forum members using a bike rack which clamps to the towbar neck or bolts to a flange between the towball and the neck ?

Thanks.

When I bought the Atera one I have a few years back I spent a bit of time researching various options and don't recall seeing anything like that I'm afraid.

In these situations you mostly see folk using the car roof or with some trailers (possibly trailer tents), having them roof mounted there.

It can be done for motorbikes as I used to have a rack for a motorbike & use a trailer
Not sure with bicycles

Thanks guys.

I also found a detachable Witter towbar with flange which could, apparently, take a bike rack while leaving the towball free for towing.

It's not clear whether the lower bumper would need cutting. The Westfalia detachable units don't.

Watsey I noticed the number plate you put in that search, is that's yours? I ordered/bought that car from new and that's my initials on the number plate

Yes RJM is now in my care I did wonder whether anyone in the forum owned the car before me, and whether it had any noteworthy history.

It's had a fair bit of work, warranty (surprising how much) and mods, but the spec was exactly what I was looking for - we clearly have very similar tastes

It was certainly looked after carefully by me for the 2 years I had it with nothing to report. I think one of the twin horns stopping working was the only warranty work I had done. Have you had it since Dec 2014/early 2015 when I traded it in for the 335D?

I've had it since Feb 15,m; UAC dealer was Elms (now Barons) Stanstead who said that the car was originally supplied by Specialist Cars Stevenage ? I guess it went through the UAC network stock for a few weeks.

You just missed the substantial period of warranty work. Steering rack (knocking), pretty much a complete front suspension replacement (knocking), aircon condenser (corrosion), aircon control valve unit (corrosion) rear window rubbers. I think there's more, but I can't remember the entire list. Thankfully it's calmed down since then.

I bought it from Specialist Cars originally but did trade it in to Elms/Barons Stansted as they offered the best deal to upgrade. They are also my local dealer they just hadnt offered as good a deal as Specialist Cars the first time round.

I've not had any warranty work on the 335D either but then I'm probably lazy, there are a few things I really should get looked at.
