Yeah the one we had at the back end of 2008 into 2009 was great at 1.03 to the Euro, ah the good old days!

The rate is about the same as it was in the middle of 2013 and we're all still here, well most of us.

Ah yes, end of 2008 into 2009, the height of the recession! Let's all be grateful the pound is back to the value of those days!

The tech kit that goes in them and security around counterfeits.

I tend to get involved with NCA and either Royal Mint or central banks with this stuff.

The new pound is not ideally what was originally requested.

The coin mechs in my pinball machines are programmable inductive units. Haven't tried a new £1 yet but how hard can it be? Works with all other coinage.

Worse as it now appears but given we are home to many financial institutions it was felt the impact would be worse here. Turns out not to have been the case - just shows what these traders really know...

Depends on the mech and if there is a coin file or if they can be taught.

New coin has a different signature to current coins.

The point is exchange rates fluctuate always have always will...no need to get your short sighted can only think of now knickers in twist.

The pound isn't 1.03 like it was in 2008/9 it's 1.16 as of today the same as 2013.

Please try and read the posts you reply to.

Exactly what I mean. On these coin mechs you can insert pretty much any currency as the inductive value will be unique. You then simply tell the controller how many credits to award for that particular coin.

When you say a different signature do you just mean a different inductive value? My pinball machines herald from the 90s but are still programmable so I would have thought modern would be too. When I get a new £1 I'll shall try it.

Yeah basically the coin being pretty much bimetallic has a discrete value and will likely show as a distinct value to an inductive mech, teaching should be straightforward.

Remember though that the old coin is removed in 6months.

Get those bells whisky bottles emptied.

Work a little harder then and earn a bit more if you're feeling the pinch.

And have a look at long term exchange rates you might stop jerking your knee as much, you'll miss them when they're gone.
