Is anyone actually working on cracking the B58 fuel cap?
We often see posts about people "waiting" for the B58 fuel limit to be cracked, who exactly are we waiting on? Has any companies or individuals publicly posted that they are working on a fix or work around?

And just to note, I am not complaining... I just wanted to make sure we aren't just a bunch of guys standing around doing nothing because we are assuming some other guy is working on it.

I suspect there are lots of people working on cracking it, I also suspect it will take a leaker from BMW to get the job done. Perhaps we should start collecting money to offer as a bribe to any BMW tech type who is willing to come up with the goods?

Supposedly the mommy ECU software is saying yall lil kids play nice and keep under ~400HP cause yer not getting any gas after that.. hopefully its not a hardware restriction cause if BMW were smart about it it could implement it that way

None of the tuners really comment on it at all so I don't think anyone is close on this or actively working on it. I don't think its something people are going to just figure out without something leaking from BMW from an engineer. Who knows.
My lease will probably be up before anything gets figured out on this. LOL |

The platform is pretty darn new, give it some time and it will get popped. There is just a lot of N54/N55 development stealing the limelight for now... B58 will have its time to shine soon enough

Back when the N54 debuted (when it was a complete unknown) and the N54 and F80 cars came out, it took no time for the tuners to crack the codes and get into the timing and fueling. The more time that goes by, the likelyhood of it happening at all is dwindling down.

To be fair, the N55 took a handful of years before significant advances in tuning were made. Around 2012 or so, people were specially shopping for the older N54 models if they wanted to go fast since there was almost nothing available for the N55 at that time.

Really? I wouldn't have thought. BMS usually wait for someone else to provide the means for flashing then utilize existing flash tools. I can't see why B58 will be any different.
CMD Flashtec, Dimsport, Alientech etc usually come first then user-flashable options at some stage after that. None of the above have released B58 DME tuning yet so I'd assume it's still going to be a long time before we see anything from PTF, MHD or Cobb. At a guess, I'd say PTF will probably be first. You'd have to ask them if they have plans for Bootmod3 for B series engines. |

If you look at BMS products you'd think the opposite. I highly doubt they well have a flash tune anytime soon

Yea but they need the flash to lift the cap so that their product will be able to work to its full potential and have a benefit over the active 8, vr tuner, dinan elite and etc. As of right now, everyone just chilling at the same power level
