PCP GMFV basis

Apologies for what is a silly question but is the PCP GMFV based on the list or discounted price of a vehicle? Have gotten a quote for a 440i. For a heavily optioned 440i (around £53k list, £43k discounted) the GMFV after 4 years is £15.8k. That seems very low to me. I know many options don't add to the GMFV. Or is depreciation on a 440i really bad. Or do the current good deals then lower the GMFV too.

Thanks in advance

Jon

The GMFV is not based on list, discounted, etc. It is the guaranteed minimum future value, and is based looking at auction prices going back over time. The car will probably be worth more than that figure, but this is not guaranteed.

Thank you for making that clear. Nonetheless I still find it weird that my current 430d has higher GMFV despite being circa £7k list cheaper; guess at least at that time people wanted diesels...

That does sound low. My 435d has a GFV of £19.000.00

Ahh, but remember, they have been 'predicting' that diesels will be less popular, due to taxation changes, etc, then the GMFV will reflect that future pricing.
Whether it's accurate or not, in the long run, is anyone's guess.

Basically it's depreciation.

Options do Very little

BMW's depreciate like you're throwing a body out of a plane, adding more options will make it worse if anything.

Yh you're right but they don't keep the value they cost, so still tends to add to the depreciation, pro nav and HK was £2k from memory when I paid for mine, I know it added about £200 on trade in!

This is where we find out it's 100k/year and we are all talking

TRL pasted a spreadsheet on the Baby BM forum listing the trading values of options on a 1 series. Pro nav was £500. still a lot less than the £1800 at the time.

EDIT, found it.

3 door Vs 5 door......extra cost £430.....increase in GFV £427....... cost £1 pm.

Manual Vs Sports Auto...extra cost £1685...increase in GFV £513...cost £26.pm.

Comfort package......cost £385.....increase in GFV £127...........cost £5.50 pm.

Sun Pro Package......cost £315.....increase in GFV £0..............cost £6.75 pm.

Visibility Package......cost £440.....increase in GFV £127...........cost £6.65 pm.

Business Navigation ...cost £990....increase in GFV £510..........cost £10.75 pm.

Pro Nav Package.......cost £1990...increase in GFV £637..........cost £29.75 pm.

Business Speakers.....cost £295....increase in GFV £127..........cost £3.75 pm.

HK Sound ...............cost £600....increase in GFV £254..........cost £7.50 pm.

Adaptive Susp.........cost £515....increase in GFV £0 ............cost £10.95 pm.

Heated seats..........cost £295....increase in GFV £127..........cost £3.50 pm.

Metallic Paint .........cost £550....increase in GFV £0 ............cost £11.75 pm.

Memory Seats.........cost £650....increase in GFV £0.............cost £13.90 pm.

Folding Mirrors........cost £275....increase in GFV £0.............cost £5.85 pm.

Sunroof................cost £895....increase in GFV £127..........cost £16.50 pm.

Reverse Camera.....cost £330....increase in GFV £0.............cost £7.00 pm.

Comfort Access.....cost £350....increase in GFV £0.............cost £7.45 pm.

On a 36m agreement these costs would be proportionately higher but 80% of contracts are currently 4 years
so I have used them.
Hope that helps some of you out.

I found this true when getting quotes for PCP's on a 440i. It's a worry anything will depreciate more than a 435d though.

I didn't find this mate.

Both my 440i and 435d were specced to approx £51.5k

The GFV on my 440i is £14.7k doing 14k miles per year.

The 435d I had was £16.5k GFV for the same mileage - but the 435d was £2k dearer for the model (list price) so I would say thats the same level of depreciation for diesel or petrol.

When I specced the 440i the dealer told me BMW were contributing more to the big petrol's because the were worth less used. They took £10k off list without haggling.

Well looking at the figures the dealer is talking bollocks - but then we already know that they are lying 'cos their lips move

As for discounts - I got about 19.5% off both the D and the I

I take it thats yours at the moment then? (£19k GFV) On what mileage?

Just had a look on the configurator.......

435d - Auto - No options - list £46,595
10k miles pa. GFV is £16,821 = £29,674 depreciation over 4 years.

440i - Auto - No options - List - £44,505
10k miles pa. GFV is £14,500 = £30,005 depreciation over 4 years.

So yeah, ok, the petrol depreciates £100 more pa than the diesel.

Scary figures for both though

Strange then.

Has the APR % rate changed for the LCI? Configurator was showing it as 9.8% for a new order!!
