BMW Airbag warning light..Diag, fix and clear fault codes

Airbag warning lights are usually faults that occur within the airbag module , crash safety, Srs, systems.

The OBD 2 scan tool was able to diagnose the issue down to the seat belt pre tensioner, which is part of the SRS safety restraint system.

A seat belt pre tensioner is a device that is used to hold a passenger firmly in their seat just before and at the start of a collision (especially in a front or head on collision) and then allow that passenger to come into contact with the inflated airbag in a controlled way.

The video shows step by step, removal of the seat, unplugging SRS wiring harness and removal of faulty seat belt buckle (female)(right) passenger side. Then installation of new buckle then plugging SRS wiring harness back together and eventually bolting back the seats. In conclusion, showing a final Diag and clearing up the airbag warning fault using the OBD scan tool.

I hope this video helped someone, and Thanks for watching -Raoul Jacques

Why put this in the New England forum? I'd share it with everyone.

Well, the pretensioner are part of the SRS but have nothing in common with Airbag, so not sure why you labeled and posted that way.

The pre tensioners have an explosive that triggers to tighten the seatbelt during an incident. They can trigger without the airbags ever going off.

In fact, prodogs had it happen recently.

It’s easy visually check if the pretensioner has fired (besides a warning on dash and CID) by simply looking or feeling the end of the pretensioner for an exposed cable.

But again, has nothing to do with airbag.
