My AA Active Processor feedback

Hi,

I'm using the new AA Active Processor since quite a while and I like to say this is a great tuning. Based on up to date technology AA developed a great N54 engine tuning. IMO the balance between reliability and performance is implemented very well. The power distribution fits to the car, there is quite some low end torque and the car pulls strong up to the redline. Based on this ECU tune, you can add FMIC, exhaust, DP's, ... to increase the power output of the engine. If you don't need maximum power for races and want a reliable, scalable and powerful daily driver, this tuning might be worth for you to have a look at.

The unit has not been visible to the DIS, ProgMan v28. No CEL's, no limp modes. Max 14psi seen by the engine up to now ( 60 degF ambient ).

Ciao,
Eugen

Hi Eugen

How is the power output compared to your former JB2H?

IMO the power output of the AA Active Processor is a bit increased compared to the JB2H, however I think there are less than 10hp difference. More important the AA Active Processor works with any gas in any ambient temperature.

Is 14psi a spike or does it hold around 14 in midrange?

No. Wanted the engine tune first. Forge DV's. FMIC will be next.

Good question.
What's the difference?
Is the difference just a different case?

+1

was considering this tune as well but was wondering why other tuners have specific maps for fmic and dps and, if I understand correctly, this one just uses the same standard map.

It's just a standard map. AA told me FMIC and exhaust will be no problem, DP's should be no problem as well. They will release additional maps if necessary. We will see ... up to now they did what they said.

I am not sure if DPs will work with Active processor...maybe AA can chime in.
btw...someone was suppose to do IC,DP,exhaust with Active Processor and dyno it soon

??? Using the same settings for all tuning configurations is not better than the JB2H. Controlling timing as well is better than the JB2H. BTW, I liked the JB2H.

This would be very interesting. I will install my FMIC soon and catted DP's in early summer.

The engine did stutter for maybe a minute everytime I tried to apply some throttle but after one minute the light went away and the engine was running fine again.

Hmmm - I did a lot of shifts at redline in the 3rd and 4th gear with my car already ( let the car upshift in D and DS mode, it's an auto ) and never got problems. At redline you have 8.5 - 9.0psi boost. Gas seems to be ok, you use 98 octane (RON) gas, I use 100 octane (RON). My car is stock except the Forge DV's and the AA Active Processor. Did the problem appear right after the AA installation when the ECU adapts to the tuning ?

Thanks,
Eugen

I had exactly the same problem as Rossifumi describes, so Redlining in 3th gear (Steptronic) right after install of the AA processor (150 km). I am running 95 octane gas (Netherlands). After the half engine light and "Engine fault, reduced power" I stopped the car, restartet it again, then the light was gone.

Can my dealer see that this happened in the computer during service?

Thanx
