Disney Paris

We want to treat wife's niece to a trip to Disney Paris in the summer, has anybody got any tips/experiences to share? how to book and where to book? as it looks bloody pricey for 2 nights/3 days (over £1500) I rather take her somewhere nicer

I am not fussed to travel by plane or train (although train is preferred), hotelwise again I don't care but wife thinks it needs to be one of the park hotels (which are stupidly priced), so anything that helps us with our decision is appreciated.

cheers

took the GF last year, we stayed in one of the associated hotels around the park; these are services by a shuttle bus that runs every 15 minutes and drops you off at the park, staying in the park is ££££££ you'll get a more themed hotel but you're paying through the nose for it. Ours was basic (comparable to travel lodge) but good breakfast and super convenient. The shuttle bus service was great and the drop off is where the train station and the restaurants outside the park are (planet hollywood etc).

https://uk.hotels.com/hotel/details....ab=description

Re the park, two days is about right as there's plenty to fill the time and with their reserved fast-track (you get a timeslot for a ride) you can end up walking between the 2 parks.

We're in the south east so the eurostar was a no brainier, that takes you straight to paris and then it's a simple change onto a train that takes you to the park. If you want to save some monies then you could look at driving and parking at the hotel, drive to paris is simple enough.

Based on your Norfolk location then train to London for the eurostar is probably going to be £££ so you could consider driving to Paris (simple enough) or drive to Ebsfleed for the eurostar and park for £5.30 a day

@Ridg thanks for that, driving won't be an option but have to search a bit more to see what can be done

Been about 4 times now mate with all the kids I have

Just keep an eye out on the direct website for offers sometimes they have 3 nights for the price of 2

I have just bought park tickets only for a customer of mine, for him, his wife and child and they cost £300 for 2 days 3 parks

Like someone said it's a lot cheaper to stay 10-15mins away and just catch the tube into Disney land each day, to be honest mate your not missing much with the hotels your niece will be more excited for the parks rather than the hotel, the hotels do have some of the characters roaming round them from time to time and at check in and stuff but that's all your missing really they are definitely not worth the money mate

Explorers hotel isn't bad tbh & there is a free bus into the parks. Lots of nice apartments / accommodation near the hypermarket & you can get the train 1 stop into the parks. Some nice places to eat near & around the shopping centre as well

I would definitely recommend to stay in the main Disney Hotel it's a bit more expensive than the other hotels near by but not just more convenient as it's right by the park entrance but also different experience. We stayed 4days/3nights managed to get upgraded to breakfast and dinner inclusive which was superb. We've booked it through a travel agency as a friend works there but I would call the hotel directly and negotiate a good deal.

I've never been, but I know "DLP" threads make up about half the posts on the TripAdvisor France forum. You might get some more info there (not suggesting these replies aren't helpful btw).

I have been reading quite a lot of forums and posts, it is just a bit silly IMO paying couple of grand for 2 or 3 days! But I am tight

I agree. As I said, I've never been (not my cup of tea) but my niece and her family went last year and said everything was horrendously over-priced. They practically ended up living on crisps after being systematically fleeced for two days.

Agree the hotels are expensive but for me it adds to the whole magic, the attention to detail, you can bump into the characters, etc. If you were planning on going yearly I'd say get a normal hotel but for a one off I say bite the bullet and go for it.

Something I'd recommend is a character breakfast. These are at the Disney hotels but you don't need to be a guest to book (and make sure you do book ahead). Seeing a child's face when they have breakfast and Mickey or Minnie tap them on the shoulder is priceless (and I don't have kids and generally don't like them!) and even the most cold hearted adult can't help but smile!

I took the other half there a few years ago for her birthday. To be honest it is pretty poor compared to the Florida one! It's much smaller, dirtier, more run down, worse food, worse weather etc. If I were you i'd put the money towards going to the proper Disney World next year.

By the way, if you're not bothered about seeing someone dressed up as Mickey Mouse, I've heard a lot of people rate Puy du Fou more highly.

that looks good not sure without looking more into it, would suit a 12/13 year old girl or not though! I am not fussed about seeing anybody dressed up

I went in my younger days roughly around when it opened, I always remember my Dad saying "How much" when we had a meal there.

So god knows what it's like now!!
