Tyres

What tyres are cars being delivered on, both the SE and Msport spec cars at my dealers all have the Goodyear Eagle run flats ?

From earlier posts I hear the Goodyear R&D department have done a good job with these, their first effort I had on my F11 were terrible.

Does what comes on an ordered car just depend on what's lying around at the time or is there a plan anywhere

in addition to your question, are these tyres a "next generation" or the same as what was offered on the F10?

I thought I'd read somewhere that they were changing and being limited to 50 miles in the case of runflats (thought they were that anyway although I know from personal experience they are capable of far more...)

These are a brand new Generation Goodyear Assymetric 3 High performance Summer tyres.
Far from the Goodyear touring grade Goodyear Excellence or EfficientGrip what the F10/F11 got

Depending on model, wheel size and day your G30 was made you could get Goodyear, Michelin, Pirelli or Continentals

Which brand goes further in your experience ?
Had a Pirelli disintegrate, Sidewalls came away main tyre after about 40 miles, michelins untroubled by 50, goodyears no experience of running flat.
I like runflats, changing tyres by side of road / rain / time restraints = pain in the *rse
Happy with the compromise / benefits myself

I got about 400miles out of primacy 3 tyres at speeds up to motorways speeds. So more than the 50mph/50miles that is quoted.

The SportLine demo car I drove had the 19" Goodyears Asymetric 3 runflats. Very good grip in the corners (no traction control light) but were very noisy on the highway at 150km/h.

yes.
i thiught I had a valve issue as I was unable to check the tyre pressure at my local supermarket. I later realised that if the tyre is flat there is a different button to press to inflate a completly flat tyre.
this was the first rft car I have had so put it down to a learning excercise but yes racked up about 400 miles like that.
looking at the tyres very difficult to tell that it is flat but in retrospect I know what to look for.
as it was a rear thre there was the odd wobble but otherwise driving was ok.

good to know that they can take this treatment if need be.

lesson learned and I was abke oick up on the second puncture that I had.

I've had 2-3 blowouts on run flats and love the feature. Worth the extra cost and any ride compromises specially with a wife and kids who may be out alone without me around.

Pirelli P7s on my UK M Sport , RFT's quiet and very grippy, compared to the Michelins and Dunlops on my F10

I got the Goodyears with mine and they grip very well. I'm super happy with them. First time I'm driving with Runflats. Coming from Michelin PSS.

As I understand it, SE standard fitment in the UK is 225/55 17 normal tyres, ie NON-runflats.

Can anyone confirm this?

SE cars on 17" wheels have non-RFTs, according to current BMW brochure and price list. 520d ED on 18's also gets non-RFTs, but all other cars get runflats.

I once managed nearly 3,000 miles on a run flat tyre that had a nail on it. It was a slow puncture and I kept topping up air once a week until it became too annoying. Was annoyed having to replace a nearly new tyre. So lived in denial
