Dumb question: Different tires front to back w/ xDrive

Hey all,

Just grabbed a set of used Style 269's with Pirelli PZero run flats. The two rears are brand new, but the fronts are basically toast... both are worn and one is badly damaged. Is it safe to run Non-RFT summers in the same size, or do I need to track down exact replacements?

Thanks!

Dan

as far as i know as long as the front tires are the same and the rear tires are the same you should be good. However you can not have two different tires in the same axle

I'd put run flats on if you are replacing tires, unless you intend to eventually have go flats on all fours. The AWD, ABS, and DSC are designed assuming that all four tires are the same. A run flat has a stiffer sidewall than a go flat, so I don't think it will react exactly the same as a run flat, but it could be close. I would not take a risk on a safety item like tires.

I've run different tires on the front vs. back on a 335xi before.

No issues.
