Are all Charge Pipes created equal?

I was thinking of upgrading my charge pipe and I see there are many different types and different prices. Are any brands better than others and do higher prices necessarily mean better quality/performance?

I'd prefer one that can run a BOV and support meth.

Thank you!

Get the VRSF charge pipe, great price and product. They provide chargepipes that can run a BOV and all their cp come with meth bungs. I've had mine on for 30k miles and no problems. Fit was good and install was pretty easy. plus vrsf has one of the best customer service.

No not all charge pipes are created equally.

Evolution Racewerks have the highest quality charge pipe finish. Their black anodizing is second to none. That being said it comes at a price with their CP being significantly more expensive than a proven option like VRSF.

If you want a CP that fits and give you reliability go with VRSF. If you want all that plus a nice shiny look get the Evolution Racewerks anodized black CP

Other reliable options include ETS and CP-e.

There are cheaper charge pipes available on the market but they do not always fit

All CP's are definitely not created equal!

Quality fit and finish are among the differences. However there are functional aspects that differ too.

Our most popular is still VRSF and ER at this time.

Agree with Mike and Jeff. I have the ER CP and it is definitely an order of magnitude higher quality than the cheap one I originally had.

Countless threads on here about people buying cheap charge pipes and having problems. Get the er. Skip the headaches.

ER CP has a crappy hard step in diameter and bad DV placement. I do like that it has a proper mount though. I got the BMS/CP-E and I'm going to get a mount welded to it.

The diameter needs to step down to mate with the lower CP.

As far as bad DV placement, that's up for interpretation. They can mount it specific for your DV, depending on which you have. Different DV will mount differently.

As far as the mount, I wouldn't bother. I actually removed my mount from my ER.

I hated my ER CP. Mainly cause the connection to the throttle body had some play. Everyone else had this issue too, but it was normal.

I have the Ad Engineering CP and that fitment is on point!

Mainy CP's have play at the TB but that didn't mean there was actually any issue. Mine was actually a little on the tight side.

Both have 5 star reviews on our website

VRSF

Abe
Fitment was no problem and installation was a breeze and only took 20 min to install. I have had it installed for about four months and haven't had one issue with it. Shipping was super fast. No complaints for X-PH or VRSF. Buy with confidence and you won't regret.

Keith
Works great on N55 135is. Comes with high quality clamps, silicon elbow, o-ring for throttle body and 2 new hex bolts for the tmap sensor. Super easy install with basic hand tools as well. No chance of blowing this thing apart like the terrible plastic stock chargepipe.

Evolution Racewerks

Christian
Chargepipe fits better then stock, looks way better, and the turbo response along with that awesome hks bov whoosh just makes you smile with every shift. Its well worth the $500

Gilbert
I purchased the longer version CP with blue Tial BOV for my BMW E93 N54, and I couldn't be happier. The polished CP looks great in the engine bay and adds a little style, plus the BOV sounds great! My order was processed quickly and the item arrived in perfect shape. Looking forward to adding more boost to my car, and I'm confident that my new sta...Read More

Best built chargepipe out there for the n54. Packaged very well and was shipped very fast.

Joel
It works great and fit well on my 2009 135i. And the Tial BOV is the right amount of noise for me and is built really well.

Kenneth
Perfection... Fitment and quality is #1.

Mac
Prefect fitment, good looking and solid. Keeps the pressure in.

I've had VRSF and ER. I did not like the VRSF pipe but they have revised it a few times.

ER is definitely the way to go, even for the money.

Yes but it should be a smooth transition, not a hard step.

I've not seen or heard of one person who likes the weird DV placement, either with stock or Forge DVs.

The charge pipe should not be constantly pivoting at the throttle body as the engine moves. That's why BMW use a mount for the stock charge pipe. That way, the pivoting happens with the rubber and silicone hoses, not the throttle body connection constantly pivoting and flogging itself out.

Why did you remove your mount?

The step is pretty trivial on a boosted platform but I see you pay attention to details and I don't disagree, it could be better but it certainly has a negligible affect. I've even ran the CP-E pipe back in the day.

With regards to the DV, again you can have ER custom tailor the placement for your DV. Otherwise it's designed in a "one size fits all" which may not be ideal, depending on which DV you're using.

As far as the bracket, I've had 2 E92 335i with no bracket on my CP. No issues to report. I mainly removed the mount because it makes it easier to install.

I have a ER charge pipe in anodized black too. Really quality parts. Another charge pipe you can check out is TFT charge pipe. They also make an inlet kit that comes with a charge pipe as well.

There can be a big difference in quality..

IMO, ER is #1 in fit and finish and quality. Love the anodized black!

Our chargepipe is about $100 less than the ER, includes an additional meth bung free of charge and includes a lifetime guarantee against both defects and fitment. We have about 48 5 star reviews directly on our website, most of which have direct references back to the forums.

We've revised our original design a couple times now in order to remove any possible imperfection in the design and I can confidently say this is the best option available on this platform at any given price point.

Does the VRSF offer a long version like the ER, that gets rid of the elbow?
