What tyres did you get ?

What tyres did you get with your E90 ?
All the demo's I've seen on the dealer floor have had Continentals for 16-inch, and Bridgestones for the 17 inch models.

I read in a British magazine that the Michelins give the best ride , out of all the run-flats, so I asked my dealer if I could get Michelins with mine, but he said that he cannot control this and that you must just take what you get.

Had runflat 205 17s on my former E87 120d. They were good but very hard and noisy.

Nowe I have Michelin PS2 225 18f 255 18r runflats. Sporty/comfy!
And almost no noise!

In the US, I've seen 325i sports with either the Pirelli's or the Potenza's. My dealer said it was random as to which car got what.

Hi Thavash

Continental make the 16" run-flats here in South Africa, so just about all cars with 16" wheels here get them

All 17 wheels I have seen here have the Bridgestone RE050A II tires, but BMW also lists the Continental sport Contact 2 for that size which is also supposed to start production here, the Pirelli Euforia is also listed but I havent seen many pirelli tires here on any make.

The 18" wheels are either Michelin Sport Contact 2 or Bridgestone RE 050A

What you get depends what the factory has in stock the day your car is built, and BMW generally have at least 2 suppliers per size just incase one cannot deliver.

325i, US base model, 16" Bridgestone Turanza RFT. Maybe that's why the front end "slips" if there is a bump in the curve.

It's funny, I was reading some posts on Tirerack.com where people can review their tire experiences. I was reading up on those Bridgestone's and it seems that everyone who has a highpowered front-wheel drive car (TL, Accord, Previa van, Maxima, etc) are complaining at how bad these tires are. The most common complaint is that the tires wear out to fast. Meanwhile, all of the rear-wheel drive (G35s, BMW's) poster's all seem to think it's a great tire and lasts over 50,000 miles for them. This is one of the primary reasons I got a BMW in the first place.... You just can't put all of the horsepower to the ground on a front wheel drive car....

My 325 came with the Continental Sports COntact 2's as well!

I'm sure they just get bulk deliveries from the manufacturers, and use whatever they have at the time.

Not entirely convinced about the Conti's tread pattern, although I'm sure Continental does lots of testing. They pretty much look like F1 grooved slicks!! Which is cool and scary given the wet weather we have here in the uk. Only had the car 4 days, so no very wet weather driving yet!! (Thank gawd for DSC+)
