Red or Black ?

Hi guys, not posted in a while, been busy at work and at the `ring last weekend. (Good to meet you and the wife, Dave. hope you had a safe trip back ).

Hypothetically speaking which would you choose and why ? Both cars are a simillar value, age and mileage but Red car is a half-caged clubsport and Black is a Comfort but with Ceramic brakes. Both have Climate and Xenons.

I think I'd go with black as it's a little less in your face. But each to their own.

So, are you thinking of changing the Mondeo for one?

For me the colour would be less important and it would be all about history.

I used to have a boxster and spent a bit of time on Porsche forums. A couple of guys brought 996 GT3s and found out afterwards there first owners had been car sharing clubs and one of the cars had alignment problems (i guess a few prangs) and after a bit of work was brought back by the opc.

I would want to see the log book and talk to the previous owner(s) if I was spending that kind of money on one of these. OPC feels the safer route as if you get a bad un they will have to fix with the warrenty but I guess Pistonheads, etc you can go and see the owner.

Good luck

Black for me mate, assuming that the things Gibbo mentioned are all OK. GT3s just don't look right in red to me. Nice problem to have though!

Definately black. Looks more classy and more expensive than the red one somehow. Suits what style of car it is as well.

Thanks guys, I have to agree the Black does look less "mid-life crisis" and also more sinister at the same time.

I wouldn`t say bored mate, just at a bit of a crossroads with it. It drives superbly at the minute and is rapid to say the least but unless I go daft with the power there`s not alot more to do to it. I did a photoshoot for Performance BMW last week as well, so it will get a feature in either June or July`s edition.

ESS have also just released two upgrade kits, one to 525hp and one to 680hp so if I don`t get on with a test drive in the GT3 or if the figures don`t add up that`s where I`ll go I guess.

From Scotland? At what altitude? You need one of these in your back window.

Black. Are the ceramics worth it? Do they cost a packet to replace?

Also i woudl go for red mate on a gt3.... Now If it was a Turbo id say black.

In the states, that non-black colour is called "Hello Officer Red".

So colour doesnt come into then, so why the last comment then - youve contradicted yourself.

I think its pretty obvious to all of us the history etc is paramount, so assuming these are straight cars, colour most definately comes into it - I for one would never own a red car or yellow, I would just wait for the right car to come along - And Im sure you'll all agree with this.

Definately Black, the Red is too garish (strange coming from someone with a RED 330d), where as the Black looks sleek and classy. It will be harder to keep clean though.

Mind you if I had the opportunity to own a 911 I wouldn't be too bothered about the colour. My 2 kids ain't gunna fit in the back of one for long.
