Just dropped car off for first service and they have kindly given me a 218d tourer!!!

What a pile of ....

What were BMW thinking making this car

The ride is horrible reminds me of my old 52 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Drove my normal journey back and nipped to see a customer 36.2mpg over 28miles!! Can get that easy out of my 335d
The vision out of the front corner because of the A pillar is down right dangerous
The auto gearbox doesn't have a clue what it's doing reminds me of my old e class

Probably a bit harsh and it no doubt has its market, but it's quite different to what BMW normally offer.

I had this car as a loan car and I share your opinion, it feels like the only BMW that shouldn't be a BMW. Maybe the market for it couldn't care less, after all it's a practical car with the BMW badge on it. Did the 218d also have the dual pipes, pretending to be a 35/40i?

The 2 series like this is FWD so will never feel like a traditional BMW
It's really just an upmarket Zafira for people doing the school run etc
I can see the appeal though, it has a nice interior and is probably fine for what it is.

And yes, the visibility past the A pillar is very poor

Had one as a courtesy car as well............. I agree entirely it was poo!!

Today's courtesy car is a 318d luxury..... cant find any luxury in it at all & boy is it slooooowww ....zzzzzzzzz

I'm sure I saw his brother standing next to one in one of his many pictures. Perhaps this is why he was holding the gun......?

Come to think of it I'm sure his brother owns fleet of these which were acquired at 90% discount before he turned 13......

Can't knock the service at jct Bradford, little one loved it playing in the kids area drinking fruit shoots out of the fridge like they were going out of fashion and jumping in and out of all the showroom cars

I asked them not to wash the car which they didn't but gave it a interior clean

Asked about the 550d and was told it's not coming to the U.K. The 5 will stop at 530d now, don't know how true this is
Apparently BMW petrol engines are so efficient now there is no need for high performance diesels
Wonder if this means no new 340d

I think this is just standard dealer bullshit - he's either an idiot or he's trying it on to convince you that you should buy now. BMW have said that they expect 95% of G30 sales to be diesel. They have some of the best large diesel units available, so implausible to think that they wouldn't bother putting them in the G30.
