Alternative to putting X pipe in

I came across this nifty little insert made by magnaflow. You have a muffler shop cut out the resonator and put this in its place.

I have an e90 and am thinking of buying the 335is mufflers brand new. I can get them for $795.00 out the door. I think if I do the golf tee trick and add this cross pipe by taking out the middle resonator, I will essentially have a brand new PE exhaust for about $900.00 plus the installation of the x pipe adapter.

https://www.magnaflow.com/products?partNumber=10791

Has anyone used this part or something like this in lieu of getting full fledge x pipes that might run $750 to $1,000.00 by themselves?

Please Advise.....

I bought that exact part but every shop here wants like $400-$500 just in labor to weld it in.

I'm pretty sure that most who choose to go with an x pipe do that exact method. As already just mentioned though, you still have to find someone that doesn't charge an arm & a leg to weld it up.

That isn't an alternative, that is an X-pipe...

Also why not just do the PE Mod to your stock exhaust and save a bunch of money.

Get a performance exhaust setup. For 750.00--1000.00 you could get a whole PE setup brand new.

The cheapest I have ever seen a brand new PE Exhaust is $1295.00.

I could get essentially the same exhaust for $900.00
