Down piped installed today

installed my down pipe yesterday with the help of a lift took me 2 hours plus.

2012 335i coupe m spec auto n55

exhaust is much louder and has a bit more power I am a happy man!

I did have something weird happen. I was rolling along about 40 and punched it and the car down shifted jerked real hard almost like a bang then limp mode. I restarted the car and its been fine for the past 300 miles driven hard. I have a Jb4 and intake I run map 5. Could this have something to do with lack of fuel? Or does the car need time to adapt to the down pipe? thanks

Hmmm.... next thing would be to read the stored codes and see what they say. Do you think it might have to do with the downpipe gasket or v-clamps?

Do you think it may have been transmission related rather than downpipe?

the bang and jerk felt like a tranny issue but I don't know sometimes if the engine jerks real hard it could seem like the tranny. I'm pretty sure the v clamp is tight and gaskets are good I checked and doubled check those. weird it hasn't done it again I did have traction control all the way off.

since you have a jb4, do option 1/1 and it'll read codes.

To clarify, this loud noise happened, then limp mode. But after restarting the car, it runs 100% again without any issues?

Maybe your jb4 is set to autoclear codes. You should disable that.

Fuel... How did you reinstall your O2's? Unless tuned out, that is going to effect your trims pretty heavily. Running straight MHD flash, I had to reset alot of adaptations when I swapped my downpipe. There's more data than you realize that can be affected by the increase in exhaust flow. I think the JB4 tunes that O2 differential out though. If you can, reset the O2 sensors, O2 regulation, and (believe it or not) your throttle position sensor. After reset, give 'er hell for another 300 or so and she should even back out. In the meantime, decide when you will have time to install a Fuel-It Stage 1 or Stage 2... If you're anything like 80% of us on here, you're going to need it eventually.

Did the tranny go limp then catch after a high rev? MAY be something to do with the trans pan and mechatroncis sleeve. If you haven't done it, I recommend even if it isn't the cause of the problem, depending on your mileage.
