MMP Stage 3 turbo build log *UPDATE*
This won't be a giant, beautiful build thread like some others I've seen, but I wanted to log my experience with the new MMP turbos I just had installed.
Pic for attention: === 2010 BSM E92 335i M-Sport === Mileage: 76k miles Prior to installing the turbos, here are the performance-related mods I installed myself:
Before/After: Now for my impressions/reviews/experiences. This will be something I update as I go, because we have conveniently had nothing but cold, wet roads and snow since returning home to Seattle, and I haven't been able to do enough logging to finish dialing in my tune from Wedge. Also, I am only running 92 octane for now because you may have noticed my clutch is still stock . That will be replaced soon, along with a larger FMIC. Initial impressions: these things RIP. It is incredible how hard my car keeps pulling at the upper end of the RPM range! Also, they spool plenty quick enough for a DD; I have done a couple logging runs on the base map provided by Wedge, and it looks like I'm hitting the ~18psi target by 3400 RPM. WGDC is under 40% during the entire run once it hits 18psi. Here is a snapshot of the log, I believe my clutch slipped during this run which explains the RPM rise and plateau Ken got back to me with a map revision the same day, even though it was Super Bowl Sunday. I haven't been able to get any logs for it due to the snow on the roads, but it feels more aggressive Goals now are to finalize the tune and get this thing on the dyno (if my clutch holds up long enough) UPDATE 02/21/2017 Went to get logs using the v2 map provided by Ken, and got a misfire. Ended up replacing spark plugs/coils because they were due for a change. Got the Eldor coils again, and got NGK 95770 plugs gapped to 0.018" as recommended by Ken. Before I had only gapped them to 0.024". No more misfire! Ken gave me a call and let me know that the logs looked perfect. Right now, the boost target is getting calculated to around 17-18psi which probably puts me around 450whp. Not bad for 92 octane. He also let me know that if I wanted to I could push the boost to around 22psi and hit ~500whp but that was risky on pump without spraying meth. Personally, 450whp is plenty for me as a DD, so that's where I'll leave it for now. My stock clutch has only about ~20k miles on it, and it's holding up OK so I'm just going to enjoy this setup until something breaks (inevitably). Big thank you to MM Performance for making awesome turbos and WedgePerformance for responding to all my emails on the same day and getting my car running great! Update 05/19/2017 I, uh, totaled my car. Was doing some logging, finished logging, left DTC/DSC off, it started pouring, made a pass on the freeway, back kicked out really hard going over a raised expansion joint and I spun across all lanes, slamming into the guardrail. I know it sounds like I was driving like a maniac but it really was nothing but a hard acceleration in very hard rain without stability control. Still dumb on my part, lot of regret. On to the next..

Thanks! And yeah, this 5" one was perfect for stock turbos but it's time to upgrade

Yeah I plan to get it on the dyno, with this current map and maybe a more aggressive dyno map just to see its limits on pump gas

Have been too busy to progress any further, but I will say I've had no issues so far with the turbos. Highly recommend them!

I can't decide. Might pick up a manual Chevy SS if I can find one, test drove a used CPO one yesterday but the dealer wouldn't budge on their price. That's the only one for sale within like 1000 miles of me, gotta be patient I guess. Also considering a Focus RS or a diesel truck, I don't know what I want everything seems less fun than a 335is with DCT but I am moving to a house without a garage for the next year and won't be able to work on it as much as I would want/need to
