Steptronic failure
I have had a problem with the "manual' mode on my shifter(335xi, six speed auto).
P-D-N work fine. But when I move the shift lever left to the steptronic manual mode, the transmission remains in Drive and moving the shifter for and aft has no effect. The dealership states that I need a new complete shift mechanism($1200-1500). Has anyone had a similar problem. |

At the back of the shifter where you kick it into manual mode there is a group or wires that has too much strain/stress on them and they either get cut or pulled/rubbed apart and it makes it so it wont engage into manual mode, happened to me also. There is a few threads on this with pics and such.

unless you check your wires, dont bother paying that much just to get sport mode back lol. unless you use manual mode often which makes senses, the normal automatic mode is well calibrated for almost any kind of driving except for the extremes like going around tons of corners quickly, tracking or racing.
I dont think your car goes any slower by just flooring it off the line in D. I think its the same shit |
