Individual colours, shocking choices.

We just completed an X5 order for my wife, the colours available proved to be very disappointing for car at that price, and now with the G30 options published, frankly I am puzzled, the choice of colours still a complete non sense.
I am amazed how the Individual selection is very close to existing standard colours, for God sake can the colour department get their act together, it is simply the most boring selection, you get more choices with a Nisan.

i was thinking the same.
Obviously personal preference - I have sophisto grey at the moment and wanted something different next time, something dark but none are really "grabbing" me. Probably end up with the same again, perhaps this time with a cream interior instead of black leather.
may be they will release more in model year 2018- who knows.

Those are the "standard" or "low cost" Individual colours
With full individual treatment you can paint the car any colour you want.

Check places like the M3 forum for cars painted every colour out there from multiple manufacturers to custom made ones

My wife wanted her X5 with Estoril Blue, it was not possible and only available with the M50d, even as Individual according to our dealer, she was ready to pay, I be very piss off with the dealer ship if the Estoril Blue was an option via Individual. we also raised the question in the X5 section in this forum wih same answer not possible.

Yes, unfortunately X5 is built in Spartanburg USA. They cannot do full Individual there as far as I know.

The G30 will have full Individual from the Dingolfing Germany factory. they can paint any colour.

Being a G30 forum my answer above was G30 related.
Sorry for any confusion

Estoril is also a BMW colour and they often dictate which car models can get it.
Non-BMW colours they dont have restrictions on usually

Thanks E90Fleet, I know from being in this forum for few years, you knowledge on BMW is top league for sure
I believe this is purely down to bad choices and lazy service from BMW, the X1 M Sport as well as X5 M50d can be ordered with the Estoril Blue, both models made in the same factory, yet impossible to order it with M sport X5 e40 even as Individual.
You expect a limitation with X1's or 1 series not an X5.

On a different topic, did you manage to score a job with BMW?

1) X1 is made in Regensburg Germany. All X5 including M50d are made in Spartanburg USA (X3,X4,X5,X6 and soon X7 made there)

As I mentioned, Estoril is a BMW special colour and they have limitations on what cars it may be applied to. Non-BMW colours they dont mind much

2) No, no BMW job yet.

Yes, this is one thing I don't like about the g30, lack of paint colors. I mean, even the new 7 series gets a red Individual color choice.

I guess only the M's get some colors.

Why special color when available with the X1, Series 1, 2, and 3 and the X5M50d, this simply sucks in any form or shape, and the color in question is implemented in the very factory our car is being made for the X50d.

Plus when we did check the individual options available just like the G30 a complete joke, the number of colors that more or less match each other, just see the above screen shot.

The folks @ BMW in charge of colors are simply color blind.
In fact the concept of individual in BMW terms is a complete joke and frustrating, you pay extra yet limited so not sure why they just not call it Pearl effect or some other fancy word without miss leading clients.

They have before introduced more colours after a few months
Maybe we will see some with the G30.
Maybe that blue they teased ?

.
Its special because its only available on certain versions, like M Sport.
They reserve it for only those models

Which country lists Estoril for the M50d ? or any X5 for that matter ?

meant the Long Beach Blue, very close to the Estoril.
again I find the word special out of context the X5 we ordered is an M Sport, we had to settle for Carbon black a color that was available 5 years ago when I we purchased the F10 and X3.
Going back to my point you can not argue the choice of colors for the G30 is any special or merit the Individual tag, it limited and boring.
I was really hoping the G30 will fix this after our X5 order in December last.

Long Beach belongs to the M division, so cannot be put on "regular" cars
Same as with colours like Silverstone.
Its a privilege M buyers get to have it applied.
So only the X5M and X6M get it. Not the M50d

G30 will have full individual available after production has been running a while. So you can paint it any non-reserved colour
Just like the F10 was

A lot of these colors are a waste of money in my eyes. They are the same old same old in different hues. Bright reds and blues would be the only ones to garner my attention.

I somewhat agree. They should have some blues and reds. However the Frozen colors will look special compared with the standard ones. That is something this chart doesn't capture.

Did you see anything on Individual interior options?

Shame BMW did not move some of the M cars colours to the standard or optional list for non M cars, just like they did with the original carbon black only for M in the old days now with the M sports trim.

You can see the Individual interiors on the bmw.com site's visualizer: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicle...360_visualizer

Maybe in Africa, but the E46 M3 wasn't released to the states until 2001.

Sorry, was looking at the paint manufacturers info sheet.
Formula was released for manufacturing around November 1998. Probably just before BMW started testing the E46 M3 mules in 1999 and released the car in October 2000.

So here in Africa our year 2000 M3 had the colour
