Front 8.5J/19 ET35, Rear 9.5J/19 ET45 tire sizes question

Hello everyone.

I plan to get Rays Volk Racing ZE40 wheels in the following sizes : Front 8.5J/19 ET35, Rear 9.5J/19 ET45. I have searched through the forum and most fitted front 225/35 and rear 255/30 tires without any issues. However, I would like to fit fatter tires if possible.

My question is will front 235/35 tires have any rubbing issues with these wheels? What about rear 265/30? Any experience with these tires on these wheel size? I have KW's V2 coil overs installed and plan to get front camber plates.

2nd question : which wheel color do you guys like on a white m235i, bronze or diamond dark gunmetal?

Thanks!

Bronze seems more like a fit on a STI but thats me. Just looked it up. the diamon dark gunmetal looks nice. what price are they for the set.

Rub with 235 up front or 265 at the rear?

I am probably gonna run 235 front and 255 rear. Do you think additional rolling the front fenders with my suspension set up will clear the front 235 tires?

Thanks for your input.

It'll rub front and back with 235/265. 225/255 won't rub (might need to roll front fender). I'm on 19x8.5et39 235/35 and when under compression it would rub the inner lip for sure. 19x9.5et44 265/30 (essentially the same size as you want) and I have ~10mm of poke. Under compression it still has about 2-3mm of poke. You might get away with it front and rear if you have a decent amount of camber and slightly higher offsets (could shave the wheels a couple mm) or get higher offset wheels and use spacers to get it just right. For 8.5 front I wouldn't go over et40 otherwise you will rub the strut for sure.

Hello Joe. Are you on stock suspensions or lowered?

Thanks for your input. I think I'll go with rear 255/30 tires, 9.5J/19 ET 45.

I think I'll try front 235/35 tires, 8.5J/19 ET 35. I'm on coilovers, which will add a bit of camber, plus I will roll the fenders and add camber plates. Hopefully this will eliminate the rubbing.

This will be the best route. Maybe consider running something like the Pilot Super Sport. They have a pretty beefy sidewall and will fit almost like a 265 tire would, without the extra sidewall. The 235 front will require a bit of added camber and maybe a roll.

Yes you can. Not sure why you would want to though unless you're lowered or planning on lowering. 235 square with 8.5x19et39-40 would clear all around with rolled front fenders when lowered. If on coilovers then add some camber to the front.

The wheels I want are:
19x8.5 35et.

What tire should I buy then?

I am trying to use these wheels without making any mods to camber, or use spacers etc.

I am getting mixed views and opinions on here, and just a bit confused.

I'm running 19x8.5et39 (4mm closer to the strut, 4mm less poke outside the fender). I'm running 235/35/19 and have about 1-2mm of poke (really minimal) on stock suspension. If you're not planning on lowering, then square 235 will be fine and you won't have any rubbing. If you lower than you will rub for sure. Possibly even with a square 225 setup just because the poke on 8.5et35 is about 5-6mm and you'd need camber to clear the fender and possibly a fender roll as well.

Joe just said ET39 to 40. Your setup of ET35 is sticking out further, you might have to settle with 225s with those wheels unless you want to make modifications.

And the 225 tires can support 8.5" wheels without stretching too much?

Last question->And I'm assuming if I get smaller 18" x8.5 35et with 225/40/18 would be absolutely no problem all around.

225 on 8.5 is a stretch, but I don't feel it's too much. That's all a matter of preference. Go to "willtheyfit.com" and put in the factory specs and the new tire specs and you'll see the difference.

Also going to an 18 instead of a 19 only provides more sidewall for a softer ride. 225/40/18 is roughly the same size as 225/35/19. It shouldn't create a huge difference in clearance of the fender.
