Need help - this has been a nightmare
I've had my 335 for 6+ years and it's been great, but the last 6 months have been an absolute nightmare.
I recently had my DME go bad, which took months to pin down. Ended up replacing DME and injectors. Car ran great for a bit thereafter for about 100 miles. Also ended up removing my JB4 so tune is stock. Out of nowhere, I am now getting a litany of new codes: 2AAF - Fuel Pump 29CE - Misfire, cylinder 2 29E0 - Mixture control, too lean 29D0 - Misfire, cylinder 4 29CC - Misfire, plurality of cylinders 29D9 - misfire at low fuel level What the heck is going on here? Did the shop need to re-code the new injectors to the new DME? (injectors were replaced first, coded to old dme, then dme was replaced) HPFP was replaced a few years back proactively from the recall. I recently removed the new dme to get my old JB4 usb cable out, could it be that I simply messed up re-install? (even though car seemed fine immediately after I re-installed and only showed symptoms after sitting for a few weeks as I'm trying to sell it) Last edited by osukf09; 01-29-2017 at 06:18 PM.. |

If you're getting a fuel pump code, that could be your issue. I would clear them and see if they come back.

how many miles does it have? I had e90 335ix and at 87k EVERYTHING started breaking. No joke. Every single day something new would break and it drove me crazy im glad that thing is gone for sure. Could be just error codes. Get it checked out |

We have all been there. At the point of almost throwing in the towel and buying a Prius.
If you're really pulling lots of hair out and don't mind just spending some money to make the problems go ahead, I'd just replace the HPFP, LPFP, all plugs, coils, all 4 O2 sensors, tell the shop to recode the injectors. I know some people will say "for the love of god, don't just throw parts at the car". However, if your'e at the point of giving up, then just use some money to rid your problems. |

Car has just over 110k, so I've been thru quite a bit with this car. Not new to the maintenance it takes to keep the n54 running well.
I don't want to throw more money into this thing, as that's literally what I just got through. I'm intending to sell it, and won't be driving it at all anymore. So the frustrating part is I just want to get it healthy where i'm able to sell it and the next person can enjoy it. |

I've got 90k and can feel your pain. I've got a crankshaft sensor problem, last week I bought a new battery, month prior I changed the brake rotors, pads and bled the brakes. I need another alignment after 5k miles since my last one. I've been driving around with a bad thermostat for two years and have a leaky oil pan gasket. yesterday I was about to throw in the towel and get an Acura. But for some reason I can't do it. I am seriously thinking of going back stock and just keep it moving.

So when another DME is installed, what are the list of components that need to be re-coded, or is it only the injectors?

You can try recoding all the enjectors to see if that fixes it. If not, clear codes and see what comes back. If you get a low pressure pump code, that is a cheap part that takes 30 min to replace. FYI, my second hpfp crapped out on me at about 105k miles.
