Hi,

I'll try to explain my problem.
I have a 2013 F30 without ASD, just retrofitted an ASD (from a BMW M5). It does give me the M5 sound (so it works).
It does show up in E-sys too, but without any CAFD.

And I cannot do the "Detect caf for swe", this is the error:
Failed to get CAFs for SWE "swfl_0000111d-002_005_001"


So I have to flash.
shawnsheridan pointed me to this guide:

(which applies for every ECU).

I have followed every step from the guide.
And I have these options UNchecked from E-sys:
"Update VCM after TAL execution" and "Update MSM after TAL execution"

I receive no errors when trying to flash. But the whole process takes 0s (so nothing is actually flashed from my understanding. The cafd isn't there after the flash either.
Looks like this:

As you can see it happens to quick to even flash.

Also when doing the TAL Calculation it looks like this:

From my understanding the ones that has red cafds have an updated one ready to be flashed?
Why is the ASD ECU empty?

I also tried changing my typecode and year from my FA. My typecode is 3A51 (which according to RealOEM has ASD). So I changed only the year to 0714 (from 0712) to be sure. No changes. Also changed the typecode and year to 3C17 and 0714. Nothing this time either.

What do I do wrong?

Did you fix this? I think it was not successful to upload the latest firmware.
But i don't know why it happend.

Please let me know if you solve this with part number of the ASD.

I have no idea. I never retrofit ASD before.

ASD is not Targeted (Red) for any new files.

And HWEL should be Black before doing anything.

Yes, managed to fix it with help from the experts in this thread. And one person who helped me over TeamViewer to get it working. Sadly I cannot explain what he did, but it works.

The only thing is that I am not able to change sounds from the ASD, I am stuck with my 328i N20 engine sound. Everything else disables it. Which is weird because I used an old version when flashing to prevent this from happening.

And then, I worder whether production code is the thing that it help you.

Can't u flash it back with old istep before BMW prevented from changing? I'm about to do same retrofit and wanna make sure I don't run into same problem.

That's what I did, I searched the forums and came across a few posts which told me when it changed, and I took an istep which was months older than that one. Did not help. I am thinking that it might be something special with the ASD I have in my car, as it is from an M5.

I haven't been able to figure out how to change engine type. And I don't want to flash an even older istep, as it might break the ASD completely. Took a while to get ahold of an expert who helped me get it to work.

At least u got it to work. I also have an asd module that I’m looking to retrofit but mine came off an f30 so hopefully I don’t run into that problem. Have a few things I wanna do before doing it. I have an amp and the connector that goes into the asd but don’t have the original harness that connected to the amp and asd so I’m gonna have to do some wiring. I looked at insta and doesn’t seem to complicated. Was urs hard to install? So far I retrofitted an alarm, auto dim rearview mirror, fzd with motion sensors, and nbt so I’m sure I can handle it. Do u think it’s worth it or should I jus sell it?

I replied to your same PM. You cannot Flash ASD when it does not show in svt_soll.

Well according to this post you can, cause the one who started had the sam problem, and here is one of his post on this page

I did not say flashing ASD was not possible. I said flashing ASD when it is missing from svt_soll is impossible, and that is most certainly true. I narrowed down your problem for you. Figure out why it is missing from your Target SVT. The issue is your FA, contrary to your belief. Good luck with it.

There is no option code to read into the car for asd, so there is no way to code it in your FA as far as i know
