BMW 162 Style Wheels Leaking Air

Hey all,

Family member of mine has a set of chrome 162 style wheels on her car and the right rear tire needs air once every 2-3 weeks. Took it to a couple of different tire shops and they said the rim may be leaking air because the tire is fine.

The tire shop receipt reads "Right rear tire was leaking from the bead. Bead sealer was applied to temporarily solve the issue"

Any suggestions on how the wheel can be fixed?

Thanks all.

Have a wheel repair specialist check for a bend. If the bead sealer doesn't work, it's the tire. I had a slow leak on my 162 wheels that had a small bend on the inside of the wheel. I paid to have the wheel fixed, still had a slow leak. Come to find out there was a small slit on the inside of the tire that was very hard to detect. Took the tire guys quite some time to find it. Replaced the tire and all is good.

Might even be a hairline crack in the wheel. Happened to me on my last car - there was no noticeable bend but the inside edge had a ~1" fracture. Should be fixable but buying a used rim might be cheaper
