Armrest USB

Does anyone know whether this is permanently powered (when engine off and car locked up) or does the power drop out after a few minutes?

I've found a charging pad that sits nicely in the armrest recess allowing me to drop my phone in to charge without messing about with wires but I'm concerned that if it is constantly taking power it will impact on battery charge if left for too long.

Pretty sure it powers off after a few minutes. I've got an ipod permanently connected to mine & I hear it 'power up' after I unlock the car & get in.

Definitely powers off. If I leave my elderly iPhone 4S in there and don't use the car it runs out of charge!

Sounds interesting - is the charging pad for iPhone or android?

I don't think its Iphone or Android specific. I picked one with 3 coils in case the phone moves about. I'll try and find a link.
