MP Splitter/Lip Double Sided Tape Question

Doing some research on installing the MP front splitter and came across a couple of threads in the F30 forum where folks de-installed the double-sided tape that comes on the F30 splitter and replaced it with a heavier 3M double-sided tape. Any experiences with the performance of the OEM double-sided tape that would warrant that with the F22 splitter? Did anyone do the double-side tape replacement? Thanks in advance.

Dealer installed mine, but since I had my bumper replaced, it almost looks like the inner side of both splitters isn't holding as tight to the bumper. So I'd recommend getting the install right the first time. The tape doesn't hold up for a second install (or maybe they used new/crappy double sided tape).

I used OEM and it is fine. You could always add 3M UHB tape. If the surface is clean and you warm up the tape it should bond great.

Was this perhaps supposed to go in another thread? Or is it a deep symbolic play on how the 3m tape helps bring us all together and repair past divisions and damage (until we get stupid and try one more time to pull into that damned driveway).

I decided to do the double-sided tape change out. Just got the OEM tape removed tonight and I have to recommend the use of the 3M Eraser Wheel (PN 03612) and 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner (PN 08984). The job would have taken three times longer without them.
